Tim,
Between yours and Buddy's track experience, it is a match made in heaven. There really isn't a choice here. There is no better partner available. Compliments in there.
Seriously, this is one of those things that you just say YES to and don't look back. I can certainly understand your plight with the previous engagements and plans, but then again, these spontaneous things do not happen often.
I deliberated over my Gumball particiapation in 2002 and once I committed, all of the doubt simply went away. It is a few days, YOU HAVE TO DO THIS. Believe me, I am sincerely saying this for your own good.
Don't think about it too long because you will convince yourself out of it. Make the commitment and the rest falls into place.
It is all up to you Tim!!!!!

Tim,
Just think about it, with your TT on order you will have all of your mod questions answered, talk to the guys, get opinions, see the differences and have a ride home! You and Buddy don't live that far from each other!!
DO IT!!!!

You guys absolutley suck! Here is my thought, we leave for 9 days in Disney World on Friday. So, maybe while the kids are down and we are watching the fireworks over the castle from the balcony, sipping on some champaign, I'll say he ... can I go have a blast with these guys?
I'll give an update.

Tim,
I am guessing you will be traveling the 2002 Gumball route in reverse from CA to NC. There are som really great stretches of road out there and a perfect place to put the proverbial pedal to the metal in the red beast. I am assuming you will basically take I40 for the distance.
This is a no-brainer. You will be the only two board members to participate in the only two unprecedented events!!! How cool is that?
Did you cave yet?
Buddy, I am trying my best here!!!

Well the shootout starts on December 1st so you would probably need to fly into California on November 30th. We have the shootout December 1st and 2nd then leave in the RED BEAST and drive non-stop to Asheville, NC. Tail of the Dragon is December 5th and 6th. Then depending on where you live I can drive you home or fly you back home from there.
Anyone who is really serious send me a pm.
Thanks!

Buddy,
I don't know if you are aware of it, but there is heavy competition for longest distance traveled to the TOD. The reason I mention it here is because Tim'sNFS is coming from Texas. You might be able to hook up with him for the drive to NC (2 cars of course).
Just a thought.

One other thought. If people have schedule problems and can't make it to the entire or any of the shoot-out, I am sure other late pick-up arrangements can be made so that the co-driver need is satisfied. Maybe the co-driver meets you right after the shoot-out. I am only suggesting the obvious if potential co-drivers are thinking they have to take off a lot of time. Just another option.
