those are two different things... on stock wgs with a 1 bar your maxing out the n75 valve duty cycle.. add the 1 bar wgs and you will run ALOT more boost...
then you start backing off the wgs pressure( to keep the peak boost within reason) but keeping the wgs open down low and makes the car laggy.. on and on and on... thus a proper tune is is required... been there done that

but it's amazing how much difference 1/8 turns of the wg's adjust can make both good and bad.

that fine tuning makes a helluva lot of difference. i just went thru a few weeks of tweaking them along with new check/n75 valves etc. finally back to a solid and modest sustained 1.3

yes. i'm sure there's a diy on it in here with pics. my buddy has the homemade job and ( obviously ) a compressor. we found my leak within the first minute. the check valve whistled lol. that was helpful
i wouldn't bother with it as a normal maintenance kinda thing ( unless your obsessive lol ) any more than i would check my ic hoses or tugging on the y-pipe, absent any obvious leak issue. i generally only search for issues if i suspect i have one. beyond that, just a rigorous maintenance schedule i've found works best for me.
but if you want to pressure test as part of maintenance? no one could fault you for it.

remove the rubber line to the w/g hook up a mityvac and pressurize to 14 psi and watch the rod start to move. simplest way

Believe it or not, it's actually less raspy at idle than it was with the cats. But at wide open throttle it rips like crazy. I absolutely love it!
