Are those who changed theirs doing for improved clutch feel or as a prophylactic measure against future failure? Also, someone said that with my "new" '03 power steering pump/rez, that the change would be perfect. Is that due to the lack of the outlet holes on the tiptronic rez?
many do the gt2 swap to remove the petosin based setup because of repeated failures. others like me wanted better feel. either way I'm sure most just get tired of dealing with the oem setup

with an auto p/s setup theres no lines to cap off or drill out for plugs. nice clean install. i was lucky enough to get mine for 350$ and ripped the old lines out. new it can be quite cost to do this

Well that brings me to my next problem, and that is threading the tubes from the slave through the intake up to the power steering pump!?! The only way to do this it seems is to remove the intake! Will that mean a whole new gasket set for the top end? Also, I can see the welded inlet pipes above the water pump and intent to update the new engine with those. I only had the ones that blew out welded so I will need to find the others that are still just epoxied. Is there a gasket set for that? I suspect I will be referring to the exploded parts diagram to find the bits and pieces I need!

yes threading the old lines will mean removing parts you normally wouldn't touch. some new gaskets needed.
as for gasket sets theres really just a full rebuild kit. if you contact ebs from the forum (engine builder supply) they can get you just about any gasket you need made into a kit. tell them what your trying to accomplish and they will research the gaskets needed and build you a kit for it.

they did a full rebuild kit with seals, gaskets and rings for me and a coolant fitting rebuild kit.

a gt2 oem setup will run you about 600$ in parts. you need to drill 1 hole and 2 mount bolt holes. dremel the inside of the trans housing for a bit of clearance and install the parts. its not a big job really and now is the time to do it if your considering it at all. i love mine and peace of mind i will never replace a slave again
