The time has come, CLUTCH!

Thank you all for your help!
At this point I think my best option is:
Stock Sachs clutch kit for $705 shipped, made in Germany, supposedly
+
Single mass flywheel, since stock clutch disk has springs, I see no reason for the extra clunk between the gears.
I PM'd samboTT@... so let's see what he siggests.

Is it them: http://www.bydesignauto.com/Home.html
?
?
if you decide to use an ebay vendor i would ask for specific part # from them before buying. ebay can be notorious for saying it flits and then doesn't. for that price i would hazard a guess thats for a n/a 911 not a turbo car

if you don't want the clatter at idle, simply replace with the oem dmfw!

So SMFW creates that notorious idle rattle? How does it do that?

i'm going to hazard a guess, and say it has less "mass" lol. but i am no expert, beyond having a good working if not technically oriented sense of what works for my car.
i am approx 475-500rwhp rwd and will never burn thru my new stock clutch. not in this lifetime. i too "almost" went for the lwfw, but got one dmfw almost "new" that purportedly came out of that guy rogers car that died with pwalker ( RIP! ) as apparently he wasn't gonna need it anymore .
bottom line is i didn't want to ADD noise to the car as it's loud enough. though i would LOVE the quicker revs that the lwfw allows for.

i don't think he was asking about the 4.0 kit at all john!? but i may have misread "him". he was merely asking about replacing his stock clutch.
dollars to doughnuts he'll never exceed the limit of a stock clutch, add to that possibly a gt2 disc? and he's good for years.
unless of course he lets someone roll his car onto a transport truck again lol
i'm just sayin.. ALL your stuff is maxed out racegear. it's not necessarily for "everyone" necessarily. in the same way some folks like the hyd assisted clutch.. while ANYone that might argue the gt2 setup isn't "better" and less prone to "failure(s), would be nuts! is IS "better" if not "softer"! lol. but you see my point?
this guy doesn't need a racing setup.. imo.

it's all good man.. if i had to ask ANYone what parts would be best for the car depending upon usage/application. it's you and sambo. hands down.

Wrong kit again. The Vivid kit has the medium strength PP along with the solid disc. Would not waste your money on this. It's only marginally better than stock.
This is what is in the 764PP/964RSLWFW/997GT3RS4.0 kit. Make sure you are getting the 997 part number 4.0 disc and not the old style GT3RS disc with the blue springs. There are probably a few of those sitting on shelves. Those are noisy.

What does this kit hold as far as whp and wtrq?

And I will 2nd Powerhound's suggestion to also give Kevin at UMW a call. He has these kits in stock ready to go, with all the exact part numbers and PRECISE written instructions for any good independent shop to follow for a perfect installation.

Not to mention Kevin is a heckuva nice guy to deal with.
Cheers

This s bit of an overkill, definitely above my budget.

Before you go spend money on a new clutch, you may want to try removing the clutch assist spring. It's an easy/free DIY mod that is fully reversible if you don't like it.

I absolutely hated the way stock clutch felt because the engagement point was not consistent. I had a hard time shifting through gears smoothly.
With the spring removed, the clutch feel is much more linear. The pedal effort did go up a little bit, but still not bad (I still have the hydraulic assist).
