How do my spark plugs and coil packs look?

I pulled one plug and coil pack today to see what condition they are in and they don't look too promising. The car is an 03' Turbo with 26k miles on it. These seem to be the original spark plugs and coil packs as they have a 996 part number. I have to order new plugs and coils packs, what plugs do you guys recommend? Mods are tune, headers, and straight pipes.

Pull the rubber end off the coil and look for cracks on the end of the coil. They will be very light, the untrained eye would pass them over. I would up date to the 997 coils while you are in there

Ahmet is infamous around these parts
The coil packs have been updated and the new(-er) parts have 997 part numbers. I don’t know what exactly the changes are, they look similar. I’ve come across a handful of failed 997 coils along with several failed 996 coils. I don’t replace all 6 coils “while in there” anymore, though plugs I’d replace after all that work even if they had only 10k miles on them.

To the original poster, those plugs look fairly worn, I think both Bosch and Beru make great plugs, I seem to recall some people have a strong preference for one type on the 996 turbo.

Thanks Ahmet, I'm surprised that the plugs look this way with only 26k miles, but I guess it's the nature of the beast.

No problem. These motors really do seem to like more frequent plug changes than most. I thought that was interesting also but keep in mind the factory interval’s only 30k? Twice as often as the normally aspirated Carrera if I remember correctly. This from the same company that thinks 10k+ miles is a reasonable oil change interval... Anyway, enjoy your newfound slightly smoother running engine when you put it all back together.

Upon further inspection taking Tim's advice, I found that all the coil packs have developed hairline cracks throughout the body. I'm sure swapping these original parts out will improve my ride a bit.

I've inspected mine in the past after a misfire code and it's always the crack ones. Buy them online and you'll save a ton vs. the stealership.
