How does the Gallardo compare to the GT2?
#16
I'll chime in.
1. The GT2 is a bit faster stock, but harder to drive at the limits.
2. Handles better?? That depends on the driver. I can say that I have never owned a car that "stuck" as well as my Gallardo. I think the Gallardo makes a lesser driver look really good.
3. GT2 hands down.
4. The Gallardo has 8 piston brakes up front. I'll add to my previous comment and say the Gallardo stops better than anything I have ever driven. The Gallardo gives you a very high level of confidence ... it just never seems to be on the edge. Maybe not a good thing for you "Race Car Drivers" but for us average schmoe's it's just right.
5. Mine has been good so far. The maintenance schedule is pretty much the same as a Porsche Turbo. No major anything. Nothing like Ferrari.
6. I think it is a bit more. But the service schedule is similar.
7. That question has been answered in the above comments. If you want performance and the ease of simple power upgrades the GT2 is the way to go. If you want something that looks exotic and has plenty of performance, go with the Gallardo.

This is the biggest dilemma for me.
I plan to modify my GT2 to a stage 4 (600hp) immediately and maybe the GT700 in the future. The only mod I would consider for the Gallardo would be an exhaust.
Will a 600 horse GT2 bury the Gallardo in acceleration or just strongly pull away? I just can't figure out if the GT2's extra grunt and edgy handling outweighs the Gallardo's exotic looks and exhaust music.

I've driven my 04 TT and a Lambo Gallardo on the track and I have to say that the Gallardo was less fun for me on the track than the TT. All I have on my TT is a GIAC Chip, and it "felt" like it pulled harder than the Gallardo on the straights.
That being said, the Gallardo is just breathtakingly beautiful for me. Even the interior with the cozy seats and everything really do it for me. The only downside is the ugly Steering Wheel Lamborghini likes to use, but that's just splitting hairs.
I had some friends who were just over 6 ft that could not fit in the Gallardo. They "could" fit, but no one would want to drive in the sitting position they had to use. Their legs were touching the dash where the key was (thus jabbing them in the leg) and their head was tilted forward to fit in the car.
As well, the Gallardo I drove had E-Gear and it seemed to shift very slowly.

When in the Gallardo I may not be the fastest, (especially at this altitude where forced induction rules), but you very seldom are and I don't care. There is a very "special" feeling you get when driving a Lamborghini ... I can't explain it. You'll need to find it yourself.

Chiming in here....
I had both at one time. The GT2 is faster than the gallardo, though fairly close. At higher speeds, The gallardo is much more stable, and you feel more confident breaking 180mph. The GT2, once above 150ish, feels a tad scary. It does feel much tighter than my previous AWD turbo, but no comparison to the Gallardo. I also have the optional sport suspension in the gallardo, thus the handling is much better than the GT2.
As far as aftermarket exhausts for the gallardo...I have heard the Tubi, Larini, Cargraphics Video, and some no namer down in FL. But I really think the stock exhaust sounds just fine. Most of the aftermarket ones have this "tinny vibration" to it.
APpealwise, you are a rock star in the gallardo. I had my GT2 rigged up pretty good, with HRE's, and a stage 4 GT package. Do I miss it....at first yes...a few months later (now) - NO. I recommend the Gallardo, and its just as reliable (thanks to audi) - with similar F1 hardware as the Modena, with Audi software. You will not regret purchasing the Gallardo. Frankly, after 3 turbos and the GT2, I just got Porsched -out. Hopefully the 993'ish new face of the 997TT should anchor me back for another Porsche.

sounds like you've received plenty of advice and I think you should get the G but just wanted to add a couple of things.
I considered a year old gallardo this spring. the only real downside is that I would've had to use it for a daily driver and there is minimal ground clearance in the front. i actually scraped the chin on my test drive pulling out of the dealership
i'm about 6'1" 185 lbs and i fit fine - i'd say the interior room felt very similar to a boxster - so if you're good in that, you'll be good in the lambo.
enjoy and drive in good health. i completely agree about the gallardo looking sexy as hell but my finances won't allow me to have this car as a 2nd playtoy

Hi guys,
I think I am just as confused as ever.
I want a bad *** street car and occassional track car that will pull on C6 Z06s, Vipers and exotics, but I want it to look stunning like the Lambo. The F1 shriek of the G also doesn't hurt.
Like I said previously, I have fears that the AWD will make the G feel more like the 996tt than the intimidating yet rewarding feel I get from driving the GT2 quickly in the corners
Do the girls come along with the Rock Star appeal?

2002 GT2's go for < $120k
2003 GT2's go for < $130k
I have seen 2004 Gallardo's with 5k miles for $145k and possibly less once you start negotiating. So, the prices are very close. I have not seen any 2004 GT2's for sale, but I would guess they would be in the $140's.
What was the original MSRP for the 2004 Gallardo?

Gallardo might have a tough time pulling on an 06 zo6. It will be close. Have you thought of the ford GT. I know I know it is a ford. You have to admit thought that few cars look better in person. If you have not seen it in person you should. Interior finish could be better but the lines are HOT. 550 hp does not hurt either. I bet in a year they can be had for 100-120k.
