How does the Gallardo compare to the GT2?

I haven't drove a GT2. But I have drove a manual G for couple days. Even my evo stage 2 TT can take the G and my TT pull much stornger. Driving a Lambo is a different experiance. When i drive the G. I enjoy the V10 NA engine sound, handling, braking and the killer look. All these were above my TT even I keep upgrad to stage 4. If you want more speed, GT2 with no question ask. But for me, i will take the G!!

Gallardo is a gorgeous car, without a doubt. Before I settled on my Murcielago (6 speed) I drove the E Gear and all I can say is drive both the 6 speed and E Gear. I think you will end up with the 6 Speed. Much more involvong than the E Gear.
This is just my opinion, of course.

Interesting comment. After more years than I care to count driving manual gearboxes, including Porsche, BMW, and Lambo, the Ferrari manual is the best I have driven.

I had both at one time. The GT2 is faster than the gallardo, though fairly close. At higher speeds, The gallardo is much more stable, and you feel more confident breaking 180mph. The GT2, once above 150ish, feels a tad scary. It does feel much tighter than my previous AWD turbo, but no comparison to the Gallardo. I also have the optional sport suspension in the gallardo, thus the handling is much better than the GT2.
As far as aftermarket exhausts for the gallardo...I have heard the Tubi, Larini, Cargraphics Video, and some no namer down in FL. But I really think the stock exhaust sounds just fine. Most of the aftermarket ones have this "tinny vibration" to it.
APpealwise, you are a rock star in the gallardo. I had my GT2 rigged up pretty good, with HRE's, and a stage 4 GT package. Do I miss it....at first yes...a few months later (now) - NO. I recommend the Gallardo, and its just as reliable (thanks to audi) - with similar F1 hardware as the Modena, with Audi software. You will not regret purchasing the Gallardo. Frankly, after 3 turbos and the GT2, I just got Porsched -out. Hopefully the 993'ish new face of the 997TT should anchor me back for another Porsche.

The Gallardo shares some common stuff with Audis, but honestly Audi is second to none in interioir quality so it can't all be bad.
Just look at all the plastic in the new Porsches and BMWs!
Can't understand that the buyers of high-end cars accept that.

The primary reason I am considering the Gallardo is the wild looks and sound and the maintenance schedule is not Ferrari like from what I've heard. Ideally, I wanted a 360CS, but my conservative side could not stomach the maintenance costs.
This is the reason I chose the GT2. I thought it would provide near CS thrills and driving experience, but the operating costs would be much lower. I love my GT2's driving intensity, handling precision and power, which are primary factors very important to me.
The reasons I am attracted to Gallardo are superficial (looks and sound), but nonetheless very strong attractions.
I am at a crossroad of either starting to mod my GT2 or go for the Gallardo. Is this form versus function?
Any of you hardcore GT2/GT3/CS guys have any experiences with the Gallardo?
Thanks

Gallardo is just gorgeous--You can't beat it on looks.
I don't know about the '04's, but there was one thing that bugged me about the '05 E-Gear that I drove last week--without pianist fingers, I can't reach the paddles with my finger tips when I have my hands in the 3-9 racing position. I would actually have to lift my hands off the steering wheel to grab the paddles. Something to think about if you're tracking it.

Out of the half-dozen or so 6-spd 360 owners I've talked to, all but one raved about the gearbox. The lone exception said he was having some difficulty selecting gears and needed to go in for linkage adjustment.

Inmo, The Gallardos look and feel , also the way it makes you feel when you drive it, will outweight the GT2's edge in modability. That said, if you can, buy both, i love the gT2, but if i had to have one, i wouldnt even blink, the Gallardo. I just spent some time in a 15,000 mile Egear car in New Jersey, it was just awesome. My wife will soon be a Gallardo driver.
