Yes we have alumalook matched.....but it's not a fun process.
What we witnessed today was a brand new '04 Turbo Cab in Arctic Silver Metallic, same factory code as before - L92U - but it did NOT match any of our factory sprayouts....not even close.
I am aware that from time to time there are variances, but this was too obvious. It was light enough to nearly match BMW's Titanium. We double checked the sticker - 92U.
I'm wondering if Porsche lightened the formula just a hair or two, possibly to differentiate it even more from Carrera GT Silver on the 40th anniversary, and soon to be CGT.
Just curious.

This was the first incident we've seen up close like this, so we're not sure if it's an enigma, or if it is an actual change. Formula changes are tricky, often because the base paints don't change, only the minor tints do. We just did Atlas, and you'd be surprised at what's in it, and what other vehicles already have the same formula on them.

Thanks AMG....yes, on cars like those you have to drill the hole out to 1/4"....and we pass along those instructions, but they are often ignored in the excitement!
On darkening over time, no. I don't suspect that is the cause here. Our factory paints hold up very well over long time exposure. What we believe is either the factory has changed the tints just slightly to give Arctic a fresh, brighter look, or it's just a strange coincidence on this one vehicle.
If you placed several Guards Red or Speed Yellow cars together, from the same year, you will see variances on those colors as well.
