Thanks! Drove the car this morning to work and took a video of how much BETTER the throw is. For sixty six bucks just can't beat the value. Here's the link. Note: turn your speakers down..I had my musac turned up a little too loud, sorry! Pay attention to how much improvement the throw was in 5th/6th gear. OH I did the clutch spring removal mod last night too...car feels exactly the way it should now!

Good to hear you're happy - I replaced my stock shifter with the 997 stock one (non SSK) last year and it was a waste of time and money - couldn't barely tell a difference. Just ordered this one and will get it installed soon - looking forward to the improvement!

Thanks for the heads up!

That company also makes an exhaust for the 996 but it makes me a bit concerned buying from them. I may try the short shifter since I don't like the throws with the stocker, but I also own an Infiniti G as my daily driver and on that forum many have bought the exhausts and had quality issues. Most of what I read was really just rusting from not very good quality material.

****I just bought one too so lets hope it works much better than the sloppy stock one.

Any updates on this shifter and follow up review after a few more miles of driving? I am interested to hear since I bought one as well, but won't have time to install for another week or so.

Hey there Steve.rinaldi!! It's great man. Improved and quicker shifts, more positive engagement into each gear and feels SOLID since installed. I haven't needed to adjust or mess with it at all. I still can't believe how much shorter the throw is now with it (soooo much slop in the stock shifter)...I honestly didn't think it would be as noticeable as it is, especially for under 70 bucks. I can't be the only one out there who's satisfied with this shifter. The install should go easy for you...the instructions were pretty good.

How long was the install process? I installed a B&M Ripper Shifter on my old 01 Z06 and it was easy. This one looks like I need a few more tools and more time. My ex got most of my tools and it looks like I may need to buy a couple things first, but again about how much time for install? Thanks and looking forward to the new shifter.

Hmm interesting. I may buy it. For 70 bucks and if it works great why not. Thanks for sharing

LOL ah the ex got the tools?!? WTF. Sorry to hear man! Yea it's a little more involved. Took me a couple of hours to complete the install, but I was taking my time too. No specials tool are needed. Torx bit, 10mm socket, screw driver, carpenters knife, stuff like that.

I have my short shifter and need to install and maybe this weekend. Any further feedback or anyone else buy this and install? What is the clutch spring removal?

Here is one of the many clutch spring threads https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...er-spring.html

I recently pulled mine out, should be the first mod on these cars imo

I was wondering if I was the only one that thought the clutch effort was oddly light and also have issues on where the sweet spot of engaging is when I release. It's almost tricky driving the car after it sat for a few days and I lost my feel for the clutch. When I first bought it, I killed it a couple times at lights because I could't gauge where it catches and I started driving at 16 in a manual.

I killed the car a couple times when I first got it too, pretty embarrassing!
Now the engagement point is consistent and taking off from a stop is no longer awkward.
