Here's a pretty neat modification we've done to a 996TT.

SmartTire, tire pressure sensing, with black leather to fit the interior.

Perfect mod if you run your car on the track a lot.

 

or just a smart idea, period, to always know what your tire pressure is at.

 

Behind the leather we made an aluminium plate to put everything on.

 

Where can we order it? I want one too actually.

 

At the moment this is an one-off. But anything's possible

SmartTire has been around for years. Of course involves the strap-bands installed on your track wheels (before tires).....or on all your wheels if you have multiple sets.....TireRack under $300.

As for track........takes 5 minutes to check your hot pressure when you come off (and your cold before the days 1st run).....and for temp, generally tread temp across the tread is most helpful..........pretty hard to be 'watching' this stuff when you are out there anyway.

Personally, I thought the set-up had more value for traveling.....definately if you do not carry a spare. Being aware and catching a pressure drop early before the tire is damaged beyond easy repair......definately worth something.

I have had a SmarTire for a few years. IMHO, it is an essential component. I check my tire pressure every time I drive my car. I cannot tell you how many times my SmarTire has alterted me to a slow leak LONG before I would have noticed on my own, thereby saving my wheels and preventing me from driving on an unsafe under-inflated tire. Moreover, the SmarTire helps me to maintain optimum pressure in my tires, including when weather changes affect tire pressure. For example, with the cooler weather of Fall, my tire pressure went down a couple of pounds. I noticed the change with my SmarTire and added a couple pounds.

EVERYONE should have SmarTire.
