That is what I was saying percentage=involved compared to number sold.

The problem is even though it's a low percentage a lot of these cars were made and sold so the pure number of failures is high enough it makes you worry.

Seems to happen most to guy in warmer areas or those who track their cars. Suspect it's the repeated heat cycling of very hot to cool that does it but who knows....

Was trying to find the thread where a member pulled his engine to proactively weld his fittings. After it was all done he said they were in so well they would never come out and he literally wasted his time. His recommendation after it was all done was not to bother unless yours actually blows.

i read that also and that's the approach i'm taking. the numbers of reported occurrences ( at least of which i am aware - and it's mostly the bad news we read of - ) puts a teardown in order to proactively retrofit the lines, solidly in the "not unless they fail" column for me. my car has been tracked fairly extensively, and the heat cycles can/do take their toll on parts it's true. just look for my peeled calipers but i'm still pushing my the car and i suppose?! my luck at 118,500 today. what, me worry?

The shop I went to for my state inspections deals in mainly P cars and also race their comment was that mostly driven hard/tracked cars failed= they had pinned quite a few. I can see why people proactively pin/weld but honestly believe its a low percentage problem.

^ agree. i think heat cycles might be the "x" factor contributant toward failures. but who really knows.

i'll go ya one better. i think the quality of the horses isn't quite what it used to be, so the glue just has to suffer lol

There were not that many of these cars produced comparatively to others (Turbo vs NA and other make models). It is just a matter of time before a larger percent fails. The PPM of this type of safety issue is way over the limit. This isn't a trim piece (like the dash carbon that peels). This could cause a major issue. Too many speculators on number of failures. Need a graph of function of miles/age and failures.

All good points and hopefully they will reverse their decision but again pigs may fly lol.
