996 Turbo / GT2 Turbo discussion on previous model 2000-2005 Porsche 911 Twin Turbo and 911 GT2.

How much HP needed for a 996tt to "match" a stock GT2?

Crash is infamous around these parts

Yes, but you can always tune a GT2 as well.

And for the track, there are far more suspension tuning options for a GT2 than a Turbo as well.
The part about tuning a GT2 is definately true, but how far can you go? A Turbo with the Ruf Nardo or the 3.8 650 package will be perfectly streetable, but a GT2 with the same power levels will need either Corsas or PSCs to bring all that power to the ground. I don´t even want to imagine the amount of wheelspin such a GT2 would produce with normal tyres. I would think that at these power levels a Turbo would beat the GT2 at all but the tightest of tracks.

I have a street 700hp on a 2 WD 993, without LSD yet and it is perfectly drivable on the track, if the Nurburgring is a reference at all. I would assume only an experienced driver should own a GT2 , just like any 500hp 996TT.

So you´re saying that the car would be drivable on street tyres? I agree about the experience factor, but no matter how experienced you are, some cars just have too much power for what they are meant to do.

Crash it all depends how well your car delivers its torque and how smooth you are with the throttle, but I have yet never been scared of it off the track. Correction: scared yes, but it never surprised me with a tail out or sth. similar. It is somewhat stupid to have this much HP I have to admit.

You also have to take into consideration the lock of the differential.
