Help with PSS9 FVD suspension
Hello all,
I am finally looking to upgrade my Evo stage IV 996 TT suspension and brakes. I am going with the EVO Club Sport 6 piston brake kit and looking at the FVD PSS9's. Does anybody have any experience with these mods pos/neg and does the special valving on FVD PSS9's really work well on the 996 TT? Also what seems to be the best ride height, lower than stock, to prevent riding on the bump stops and compression settings for the street and track?
Thanks,
Bill

I had the prototypes from fvd back 3 years ago... and I suggest you get it installed professionally. I had Orbit racing do mine(jupiter FL).
for the money they r fine,, some prefer motec... but thats another $5K.

I have the FVD PSS9's and love them. I also suggest pro install.Suspension settings:
Ride height (Fr: 7/8", Rr: 3/4" lower)
Fr: camber -30'
toe +5' perwheel
Rr: camber -1º35'
toe +10' total
Now that it has settled in it is perfect. I run 4/4 settings.

The FVD PSS9 system is decent. The OEM coilover is also very good. But no changes in shock settings though.
Look into KW. Product is very good. Their system also has shock setting adjustment. KW 's systems are built very well. White Lightning/Peterson Racing have been successful with their stuff.
Worth looking in to.

Well...hummm...I don't track..its a cabby. But I have no problems. I manage to get around everywhere without bottoming out. The only place I scrape is usually the front plastic lip...I'm installing Techart GTs II next week.

I would not go with PSS9's if you plan to track the car. This has been discussed in detail that you will hit the bump stops and unsettle the car. Try the KW's I am very happy with mine.

Buddy, The reason for the "bump stop" problem...as I recall the extensive thread...was that the suspesion was being set too low (GT2 specs). There have been a lot of folks using PSS9s with no problem when they ar installed properly.

Of all the sets Ive installed, and properly set up. Bump stops are a non issue at the track. When you slam the car (lower it too much) you have no suspension travel left, and conversely youve turned your car into a Formula440. And you cannot understand why it handles the way it does.....
As far as a dual duty shock set up (track/street) they are hard to beat. Johannes Van Overbeek, and Darren Law ran this set up on the FVD car we sent to Vegas, with no complaints. Actually the comments on the rest of the setups (shock combos) that ran that event were less than flattering, from "harsh" to "it felt like a Camry with 300,000 miles on it". I think, Motons, JRZ,Bilstein, FVD/Bilstein, and maybe Cross were represented.
But dont take my word on it, see Feb. '05 "Excellence", Twin Turbo Shootout article.

Buddy,
You see how low my car is... I have never tracked my car, but driven hard on the street and hit some nasty bumps in turns and have NEVER hit bump stops with the FVD PSS9's. Ask Alex (Sharkwerks) they are much improved over any other PSS9 out there...
