430 or 977TT

Iテつエd buy both. I donテつエt get the whole Ferrari supercar Porsche just a sports car debate though. All Ferrari has is a more limited type of production. If you want to drive your car regularly, buy a 997TT, while if youテつエre looking for a weekend toy, buy the 430.

Anyone seriously interested in the 430 should spend some time with the F1 gearbox before committing. I much prefer the 6-spd, it is one of the best shifting gearboxes I have ever driven.

My sentiments EXACTLY, however many here who are expressing their opinion do not own either a TT or Fcar. I drive my TT almost every day and to me it is the epitome of what a true SUPERCAR should be and is every bit a SUPERCAR as much as an Fcar, Lambo, Merci or other. Your choice may be guided by your use or your desire for a different level of status, but the performance quotient gives the advantage to the TT every time !

I don;t think the people who say the F1 tranny are out of line. A lot of the poor initial reviews came from the 1st gen. units. Starting with the 575M, later the 360 CS & ENZO, the 2nd. gen. boxes are quite a bit better. On the other hand a lot of people have an issue with the 6 speed unit and it's gated shifter. Makes (speed) shifting much more cumbersome.

i'd take 6 speed on any car over an F1 or E-Gear. I've driven them all. You are much more connected to the car with a 6 speed than a push button or lever tranny.
This is just my opinion, of course.

Mannn....I'd love to have an F430....but if I'm going to drive it to the office and the supermarket....and then drive up to The Glen for a weekend of fun, then I'm going to have to go with an everyday "super" sports car, the TT.
Gary, I'm with you and the feel of a 6-speed. I'll let the Cup drivers worry about the 20 msec shift time. I'm in it for the feel and experience.
My $.03

This whole use of the term "supercar" reminds me a bit of the scenario regarding the term "supermodel" and "diva". Once upon a time, you could count on one hand the true one's in the category and pretty much everyone was in agreement. Now the terms are thrown about at nearly everyone/thing, taking away the status the title should really afford. A C6 Z06 may have supercar performance but it should never-ever be held in the same breath as say a McLaren F-1, Enzo, CGT, etc. A Porsche, save the CGT, is not a supercar. Neither is any Ferrari but the Enzo. Really nice sports cars, GTs, roadsters all the rest but there are a handful of supercars in the world and for the most part we are talking about price (450 and up), not necessarily performance. The only fence-sitter I can think of is the Murcielago and I'm more inclined to side it with supercars. Once performance is the criteria, NOS Civics become eligible. Come on now. Ferrari has the name, the aura and the looks. Porsche has the performance/dollar edge, dependibility, and Q-ship factor(relative).
