I personally would get the 430 especially if you could get one soon. The reliability of the 430 is improved, but parts and service would cost more than a tt based on the 996's history. Also based on the 996tt history resale value for the 430 would be better

EZ, the 430 is a fantastic car. You could get it now and, later on, if you like the new 997TT, sell it for that.

i didn't buy cars b/c they are exotics. i test drive just about anything ppl would let me and if i happen to have money that day, i drive it home (dangerous i know).

never liked ferrari's b/c the owners i met. but ever since i chatted with gary and jack, i changed my narrow mind. and b/n my gt3 and 430, i would take the 430 when i hit the jack pot.

with regard to 6sp vs F1. i drove a 360spyder with F1 and a 360 coupe wiht 6speed. driven hard on streets, didn't do track work. the F1 is impossible to be smooth on streets and takes the fun out of shifting for me (YMMV). yes, F1 can shift faster than i ever can, but i dont' really car. i enjoy the experience of a good blip, matched rev, heel/toe downshift.

i just can't afford to put 35 days of track work on a F430. i don't even want to know the consumable and maintenance costs.

100% with you

Gary, I'm going to buy an F430 6spd. Please do inform me on how you like it and the overall improvement from the 360. Thanks!

My first impressions (only 270 mi so far) are more torque - lots more - and more supple suspension, altho the 360 was pretty good in that department. The 430 is really amazing in its ability to soak up road imperfections without upsetting the car. I'll post more as I learn more.

F430 hands down! Sport Seats, Carbon Engine Package, Tubi Exhaust with Test Pipes, Carbon Ceramic Brakes, Full Leather Interior, F1 Gear Box, and the color of your choice!

Some of you have very stupid reasons as to why you like a car. Such as the statement above, I don't like Ferrari because of its owners; do you buy a car for the "owners", or for your self? IMO there is just as many jerk off F-car owners as there is Lamborghini, Porsche, Corvette, Bentley ETC...

Both the 997TT and F430 are sports cars, the 997TT will obviously be faster and easier to mod, but it comes down to what you truly like. A high revving Italian monster, or a Bavarian monster.

I honestly don't think I can find a flaw in either of those cars, and I can say that without even seeing the 997TT.

I say if you can get both, if not go with the Ferrari.

John,

I feel honored by your statement, as I'm sure Gary does.

The F430 is clearly not the ultimate track car when it comes to the cost of consumables and other factors. IMHO, the ultimate
drive it-to-the-track track car is............. the
Lotus Elise.

An opinion I share, except for the Tubi and test pipes. The F430 sounds sooooo good stock, you don't need no stinkin' Tubi.

Did I mention that I'm a photo ****.

If those numbers could decisively determine which car is "better" that would be great. But they can't.

I think its a matter of what you want to do. You have to remember something here, THE 997TT IS GOING TO DESTROY THE 430!! Just like the 996tt beats the 360. So again, it depends on what you want to do.
I am sure the 997tt is gonna be a jaw-dropper just like the 996tt back in 01'.
If you want to pay all that money for the Ferrari, then get it. If you want to keep an extra 100 grand in the bank, then get the Porsche!
I admit, the Ferrari is a true exotic and reaks of wealth, but it aint any quicker than my 05'996tt-s coupe..
Yes I love the looks of the Ferrari, but for that kind of money I would buy a Murciellago.. Now that car looks like something on the road.. I think it KILLS the 430 in every way!!

Just remember this... Ferrari for show,Porsche to go......
