430 is a great machine, i've heard both 6spd and F1 are good in different ways. Try both, see what you like. Maintenance isnt really a big issue from the 360's onward.

I have a tt x50 but have been mildly disappointed in the steering feel/feedback area relative to older porsches. I have only driven the 360 a few times but it was magical--not at all practical if you just want to drive and pick up a video etc. But the dynamic response was thrilling as were its looks. No back seats, attention all the time, very expensive labor costs if you do repair it but for me a work of art. Head or heart--your choice!

If I had to choose, I'd get the 430.

Sorry to hijack the thread but... Jack, your car looks awesome. As always, all of your cars are. I remember the Ferrari Yellow 993. You just know how to select the options and take good care of the cars. Congrats!!!

Back to regular programming...

IMO for the F430 nothing beats the F1 gearbox, it is as if the car was designed just for that gearbox. The 6 speed was just offerd to satisfy the 6speed junkies, but in reality they where thinking F1 all the way with the 430.

Very nice we have chatted on F-cat many times about your optioned out F430. I love the seats, brakes, and carbon package both interior and engine. The sport seats are also fantastic, I recently sat in a 430 equipped with sport seats and I was amazed at how well they fit, far better then any previous seat I have been in.

Although the F430 sounds great, a Tubi + Test pipes wouldn't hurt!

I have not owned a 430,but I have many friends with them and yes,it is a nice car,but I think the 997tt is gonna be a much nicer car to DRIVE and not look at!!
Again,if you want to be seen get the Ferrari. But if you want to drive and get the whole thrill of an animal, get the Porsche.
Heres another way to look at it; Make believe we all live in Germany and do a 120 mile commute each way to work everyday,Which car would you rather be in cruising at 140+ all day??
I compare my car 05tt-S coupe with the 360 and NOT the 430. As far as EVERYTHING in terms of performance is concerned,my car feels much better on the road. It will kick the **** out of a 360 in EVERY way!!
As far as the 430 compared to the 997tt;Well its gonna kick the crap out of that thing in EVERY way just like I do the 360..
I am NOT knocking Ferrari at all,I think its a beautiful car,but I dont like when people compare the two of them with each other. The Porsche is a car to drive everyday, the Ferrari is NOT!!

Seems like JASCLASS always hits it right on - the 997TT may be the greatest car ever made, but they'll make 30,000 of them and you'll always be trying to figure out which one is yours.

They don't make trucks do they?

Do they stick you with this POS torque convertor tippy magic tronic and called it a day?

Or 4 door sedan?

Or wet sump in their cars.

Or hamster powered tippy magic tronic Boxsters.

Ferrari is a sports car company.

Porsche used to be, until they sold their souls to the devil.

If PAG doesn't put the Turbo on a diet and go back to 2WD, it ain't gonna be faster.

The current Turbo without tippy magic tronic already weighs more than 3400. I shudder to think how heavy the new one is going to be.

But hey, if they price the GT2 lower than the Turbo and make it the new Turbo without wussy PSM and AWD, my faith in the PAG will be restored. As it is, I am just hoping that Porsche USA won't cram PSM and sunroof down my throat when I order the 997 GT2.

F430 would be next...but I will also take 997TT too. different type choice. F430 is not easy to get unless u wanna pay 50K over sticker. Just wait until 996TT come out... personal opinion.

Thatテつエs beside the point. Did you know Ferrari made a STATION WAGON? Just because the car has Tiptronic available you canテつエt hold it against the company, especially since it was made available mostly due to the US market and its heavy traffic. Iテつエd much rather be stuck in it with a Tippy than a fuse-together "F1" gearbox. I still consider Porsche both a sports car (911, Boxster) and a supercar (CGT) company, same as Ferrari. Not to mention that PAG is an independent entity, whereas Ferrari is not (this is where the Pepper, the Sedan and the gheytronics come in). And the wet-sump engine is really going to hurt us, who run our cars on the track w/ slicks all day long, wonテつエt it? Regarding the Boxster, itテつエs a magnificent machine with great handling (outhandles both the 996TT and the 430), so just because it doesnテつエt have 500 ponies you canテつエt call it hamster powered. Topping out at over 160 is nothing to laugh at IMO.

Regarding the Turbo, the AWD is there to stay, thanks to the US law-suit-crazed folk. Besides, it makes the car much more useful for day-to-day use, especially since many of us donテつエt live in Socal or Florida. The weight reduction on the other hand would be very welcome, but the 996TT didnテつエt weigh much more than the 360 (when actually put on scales) so Iテつエm sure the 997TT wonテつエt either. It wouldnテつエt hurt though, if they switched to aluminum space frame technology in the future.

That's a pretty stupid thing to say. Ferrari has made fully autos with no manual option, a station wagon, and tractors. Porsche needed a higher profit margins so that they can spend more money, time and development into making a better 997, and the Carrera GT. Porsche made an amazing move, and saying that they sold their soul to the devil is pretty ignorant.
