Anyone here ever put a 265/35/18 on an 11" rim
Will these fit over the stock wheels, trying to get just SNOW tires and put them on my stock rims... I do not want to buy a 2nd set of UGLY wheels just so I can use in the snow.... The 265 is supposed to fit up to 10.5" wheel, just wondering what would happen if I stuck it on an 11" wheel??

Lou,
Understanding that I risk the "Genius" reply....... the answer is still "Nope". A 265 will not fit on an 11 inch rim.
There's something else you should consider. When you try to short a rim (i.e., too narrow of a tire on too wide of a rim), you leave the rim very much exposed to curb/road rash.
I had 225/40/18 snows on an 8.5 in rim (front), and at the end of the winter, both rims were beat to hell (the rims stuck out past the sidewalls of the tires).
And by the way, an 8.5 in rim is within spec for a 225/40 tire.
Unfortunately, you'll need to get a thinner rim for the 265's.

Can you pick up a set of the OE 8s and 10s for the NB car, run a rear spacer just for the winter setup and have a couple of tire choices (Pirelli, Dunlop, BS)? Not optimum, but then at least you could run the available 265 rears without a problem.
I've got a buddy who's one of the tech editors for Pano and Excellence, will email him and ask what he suggests and get back to ya.
In the meantime, get used to your new look, pal!

I have seen turbos running what appears to be stock rims, and using 265 snow tires so just wondering if they were the 11" rears?? I also saw a GT3 with GT3 wheels running 265 snows, I am assuming that GT3 rear tire was an 11" rear, but, wanted to see if anyone on this board had tried.... So, anyone who has tried 265's on 11" rims, your input is appreciated..

Porsche Recommanded me to go with the 265/35/18 on my first TT and it had the 11in wide Sport Technos... i think is ok if Porsche recommands the size fitted on an 11in wheel... if something happens sue them... i didn't have any problem Lou i think you will be fine...

Rim ranges are recommended by tire manufacturers for a reason guys. The sidewalls on these tires are so small that it will overstress the construction of the tire and lead to premature wear at **BEST**. We aren't talking truck tires here, these tire are STIFF. Have any of you guys ever tried to pull the bead apart on a very low profile tire? It barely budges. Imagine stretching it on and then putting the weight of the car on it. Then get them cold and hit a pothole in those minefields that city calls roads.
BOOM.
Can a 265 be muscled onto an 11" rim? Yeah, probably. Would any experienced Porsche tech do it? Probably not, and he'd be an idiot to because it's **WRONG** for the car. Regardless of what Porsche says. Lou, I know how **** you are, and I'm telling you even if you found someone to do it you'd hate the way it looked once it was on, The top of the rim lip wouldn't even be touching the tire it would take such a radical concave in.
Spring for 2 grand, and buy another set of winter wheels and the proper tires for your HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLAR CAR.
Don't you think the car, your peice of mind, and most importantly your safety are worth it?

Lou,
I am going to voice my opinion at the risk of being "****."
First of all, those rims would not be good idea for snow conditions due to the contact patch. That combination will promote results counter to what you desire in the snow. The maximum size rim Michelin calls for is a 10.5. That is the official position.
I have 315 MPSC's mounted on 12.5" wheels. Michelin's official position is a 11.5 rim max. The unofficial Michelin MS position is wider rim will help accomplish the rear drift we were looking for and unofficially they will be fine on the track. People have lost officially mounted tires on pot holes. Will you sacrafice certain things by going larger .............. yes. ****? I believe that is being a bit harsh.
Damon and I had this larger rim discussion about two years ago. I don't hold a thing against damon for the official position. All the tires that Michelin doesn't supply me I buy from the Tire Rack.![Cool](https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif)
How does a 315/30-18 MPSC look that is mounted on a 12.5" wheel?
