Need your opinionated confirmation on few things. Now that I installed A75, solid transmission mount inserts, I hear a lot more of my car.
- when car idles at the light, it makes slight rattle, which goes away when clutch is depressed. I assume this is normal for trans. input shaft without any load?
- when I get off accelerator and coast down in gear, I hear some diff. noise, which goes away when I resume acceleration, is some noise ok?
- lastly, first and second gears a bit noisy now, I heard them a lot in city traffic, normal?
I have to tell you that with my original, torn trans mount, things were very quiet...

While I can not help you with the solid transmission mount inserts as I do not have them. I have read in past threads when you go solid mounts or even the inserts it will create more interior noise. This summer I had my transmission rebuilt & a new clutch put in. My car was in the shop for a few months so it had been awhile since I drove it, when I got it back I heard the same exact noises you are describing (no it's not in your head). I actually started a thread for the noises I was hearing https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ion-sound.html , I did replace both transmission mounts and engine mounts since engine was out. I went to 3 different Porsche's Tech's and they all confirmed the noises I was hearing were normal and that my car was actually on the quite side. All 3 Techs had a hard time hearing the noises as you can't hear the noise with AC or radio on (best way to hear the noise clearer is to have both windows up at idle with everything off and goes away soon as clutch the is engaged. IMO I also think what your hearing in 1st and 2nd is also normal as I notice it in mine under 2500 RPM's when coming to a stop.

i think you're just hearing solid mounts as they introduce beaucoup noise inside the cabin. add cup cables and you'll want a helmet. lol.

the trans/gear noise is harder to guess at since i don't know how well you know your car. e.g.. normal noise vs abnormal. but i'm betting you've just introduced a ****lo*d of nvh into the cabin with those mounts and that takes some getting used to. my semis solids still make me feel faster and add the noise to go with em lol

common wisdom suggests on a street car? semi's are fine while solids are not a good idea. kinda like cup cables on a street car. if you like whine inside the cabin? just bring a wife/gf lol

oh the trans mounts inserts!? sorry, reading at 4 am coffee deprived. never knew the torque solutions inserts were supposed to be LOUD like that. my crumbled last trans mount was but a crumbled memory when i replaced mine with the superceded 997 part. but it never made any "noise" per se,, just side to side sloppiness while shifting under load.

if you have trans whine or gear noise? that shouldn't be the result of trans mount insert unless you're just hearing the increase in nvh which is normal and to be expected.
