Tie down points for dyno testing?
I know you guys do quite a bit more tuning on the dyno over here than on the NA board. I'm taking the car in for the "before" run tomorrow. I'm sure the shop knows what they're doing, but just in case...
Where do you guys tie your cars off? The shop mentioned something about tying off to the tow hook and the stock front wheels if I still had them. I don't and I'm sure as hell not going to let them strap down to my cargraphics.
So what are your front and rear tie down points?
Appreciate the info.

Ddog-
Depends on the dyno. On a single roller like a Dynojet, they have to tie down from the front, rear, and sides, as the rear tires want to walk all over the place.
On a dual roller dyno like ours (Mustang), the rear rollers
hold the tires in place and all we need is the straps to the floorpan "nipples" to hold the car from moving forward.
What type of dyno is it?

it's a single roller dyno. not sure what make it is. i just need to know where you attach the tie downs to the car. i don't want them to try and tie down to the wrong point on the car and damge something.

Try using the tow points front and rear for starters. You need to pull the plug and insert the loops. Depending on the hp you will need additional hold downs so as to keep the car from moving.

mine's a stocker C2, do I don't think HP is going to be a concern.
i am only familiar with the front tow hook that attached through the plug hole on the front bumper. where are the other tow hooks?

I'm sorry, my rear bumper isn't stock and neither is the vent holes to the rear bar.
On a stock Porsche, front, tow hook and/or nylon straps through the spokes of the front wheels. (this is for two wheel dyno with driveroom removed) Rear, nylon straps crossed at the inboard points of the differencial.

the wheels are painted...do you see a problem with that? maybe if they put rags between straps and the wheel surface to protect the paint on the wheels?
is there a tow hook for the back somewhere? i didn't see one, but then again i have an aftermarket rear bumper.
