Color Choice: BLack or Silver
Black has always been my favorite color for cars but for some reason the majority of colors i see for porches is Silver, is it because silver best shows the lines of the car?
what one would you choose?
also does anyone have any pics of Black 996's, i cant seem to find many, lol they are all silver.
thanks

Representing silver here!!! For me, black cars get too hot here, so I went with silver. I think Silver's popularity has to do with...silver was (and still is) the color of most german race cars many years ago...when they didn't even bother to paint the car (added weight )

Well, the answer depends on whether or not you want to have a life outside of the garage on the weekends. Black looks great but is a endless commintment to keep in good shape. Silver is easier to care for, but downplays the lines on the turbo a lot IMHO.

Basalt looks a little bit purple in the sun, not brown, and that is only in the direct sunlight. Otherwise, the color just looks like a metallic black, very nice. Another color is seal grey, which is also nice. Whatever color you get, it will look good. Natural Brown interior looks very cool too, I recomend it.

IMHO, silver is the most popular because it shows off the car's lines and caring for it is very easy. Silver almost always looks clean. Although, I do see a lot of silver cars which aren't maintained very well and they look dull/flat. Without some gloss/shine, you just don't get the same effect. Personally, if I had decided against black, I would have went with silver. I like both colors, they each have their pluses. But I will say this: caring for black is a PITA, German paints are soft by comparison (I'm told this reduces chipping on the high speed autobahn) and you will have visible toweling marks and marring if you don't use the right tools/products. And the DUST! If you're picky about the car's appearance, maintaining black is a lot of work. I have a silver car that sits outside and it almost always looks good. I sometimes think I would rather have another color, but I recently took first place in Pocono Region's (Octoberfest) Full Concours and the compliments on the car's appearance are nice to hear.

One problem with natural brown is that the plastic pieces inside come in a dark charcoal...better off getting Cinammon brown so that the plastic matches the leather...
