Dock, I would not like to enter a dyno debate but GT1s will not give you 600hp no matter what.
K24 compressors will take you to 550 with great programming, and the smaller K16 turbines will increase backpressure and reduce your output. Titanium wheels and other good gizmos might help a bit more but that's about it. I am sure Stephen will concur.
Modified GT2 K24 is a different story.
Cheers

I'm not in a "dyno debate".

My information comes from EVO's web site. They say their Stage 4 package comes with GT1 turbos, and they claim Stage 4 at 603 hp.

Just passing along published information.

Dock,
That is what I meant by entering a dyno debate, not a debate with you if this is what transpired from my msg.
Cheers

I'm shopping around for my next upgrade and this kind of turbo information helps - but now I have two sources claiming power numbers off of GT1 turbos that are about 100 hp apart. How do I decide who's right?

Im going from stage 2 to stage 4 in a week. I am adding kevins stage 2 turbos which spool like k16 but have the same or more flow than the k24.
I will let everyone know how it turrns out

the problem is with the different mfgrs naming their own modified turbos "GT1" everyone has their own version. EVO, FVD, Kevin, etc

I had the modified hybrid K16 version and it did spool ever so slightly quicker but starts to run out of air quickly, compared to modified K24's have goobs of more power through mid and top. Where the hybrid K16's start to gasp, the modified K24 have much more wind.

I think people forget there is a modified hybrid k24 available.

Where can you get the modified k24's from and what software supports them?

I guess I am getting very frustrated with all the claims out there.

Some say the k24's are very laggy and not as powerful.

Others say that the k24's are not that laggy and have huge power.

Whereas others say the Kevins stage 2 hybrid spool like k16's and have more punch than the k24's.

Who do you believe!

I agree with Oak, although Kevin will tell you exactly what a GT1 is.
The regular K24 will not take you beyond 550hp on a 996TT, the others have either modified housings (and much more) or hybrids in a way or another.

So...is there a turbo/ECU (GIAC) combination that will produce less lag than the K16 *and* provide more power under the entire curve?

Just to let you know, the cars still running strong. Ive been out in it loads over the last 4 days and im still impressed with the pull on the car (the pull in the higher gears is quite unbelievable). On the pump program the car pulls 1.0-1.1bar and on the stock program the car pulls 0.8-0.9bar. Im yet to try the race program as the best fuel i get locally is only 99 Ron! I have to say even on the stock program the car seems to pull better and im not normally impressed when it comes to power upgrades.
Overall im a happy bunny with the whole package.
Problem is, now that i know the jump from X50 to Stage 4 is sooo good im wondering what the jump will be like from stage 4 to the GT800 package!
when will it stop?

Ohh, and all the time the car is being driven the same as before the MPG is the same. The only time it drops more than usual is under full boost.

lee it never stops and that's why it's called the slippery slope.
