Lowering the engine - how low can I go?

I am in the middle of doing a major service on my TT and need to lower the engine to gain access to the diverter valves and one-way check valve hidden up behind the throttle body. I removed the motor mount nuts and lowered the engine down approx 2" at the rear as measured on the motor mount studs. Can it go lower? Nothing seems to be binding and all the hoses and wires still appear to have some slack but I really don't want to break anything!

The one-way check valve looks like it will be a major PITA to change

Might also install a new oil pressure sending unit while I am in there.

Good to know! Is the best place to reference the amount of lowering on the motor mount studs?

If someone could post good pics of a 996TT engine out of the car so I can see how all the vacuum lines and fittings are supposed to be routed it would be very helpful

There was a post long time ago from Rolfjahn, here's a copy…That's the info I used when I did my diverter valves in 2008….

For the second part of your question, pictures of vacuum lines and fittings, imho you have to be more specific because there are too many to post!!!! And if you are talking about the ones that can be disturb while replacing the diverter valves the parts catalog is your best friend!

Very helpful jpflip!

I see two of the same one-way check valves #21. Which is the position that tends to fail and is referenced in Markski's boost leak thread?
