Back up a second.

A 996TT for an E60 M5, is that what you are considering? While I cannot deny the attraction of the powertrain and versatility of the M5, I must ask what the hell are you thinking?

Mike,

There's a thread in OT forum about it... also on http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=60812

It's a cost cutting move for me. Consolidation of cars... It's not a for sure deal either.

C4S, there is no way he's going to get $90k. As said as it is, he'd be lucky to get over low $80k's retail. The values absolutely blow!

Yeah. I have other reasons. Straight up, I wouldn't make this decision.

Well, the dealer upped their offer to 76K for my car, so that's not bad at all. That's like getting $80,750 in a private sale.

I think I'm going to take it. It's so hard to stomach selling it, but if I like the M5 like I think I will, it will help off-set losing the Turbo. We'll see. It will all be determined when I drive an M5 next week. If I had my 'drothers', I'd just keep the turbo and the Explorer, but in reality, I should do the M5. Again, I'll only do this if I really like it. If I don't, I'll just find a way to justify keeping the Turbo and Explorer. LOL
What a weird world I live in these days where I'm being practical in getting an M5.

Yea man that's a tough move, but the M5 is an amazing car i must say! I am getting my 996tt shortly and had the opportunity to get a white m5 at sticker 86k, i thought well i have g35 sedan daily driver and love it, why have 2 sedans? I would get an e55 over M5 though dunno why, i just like them alot more!

But anyway cant wait to get my 996tt, good luck on your sale and purchase, hope everything works out

Scott,

I've been in the market and really think your dealer is giving you a good deal.

I fully expect the market to dip for the winter and keep going once the 997 TT hits the streets.

thanks iLLM3 and ari.
I got a note froma local who will let me check out the E55 of his. Who knows... maybe I'll like it better since it has more torque which is what I like so much about the Turbo.

Scott, between the E55 and the new M5, I'd take the M5. The E55 is due for a new engine pretty soon. An AMG designed, normally aspirated 6.3 liter monster.

The trade-in is not that bad, I say take it and there's always a chance for another turbo some where down the line.
