TX2K15 Roll Roll race results (tons of media)
It's that time of year again for the TX2K15 Roll Races near Houston in Baytown at Royal Purple Raceway. The weather looked as if it was going to wash us out a little bit on Thursday and Friday but it missed us and we were able to get the whole event done.
We shared a paddock with Nick K. (UR TT Lambo) Mike Colby (UR TT Lambo), Mullet (FGT), Mario K (Evo). Joel G, the Powell Bros and Zach, Cody W, Craig G, SW, and many more stopped by to chew the fat. Big thanks to Nick K for having such a great set up.
This year its at the 1/4 mile track but the total length is nearly 4000ft. So, there's plenty of pacing and braking distance. Race distance is 1500ft. Thursday was test and tune/qualifying. Your fastest legit pass was used to place you into one of three brackets of 16 racers. Sport, Super Sport and Unlimited. There were 100+ cars trying to qualify for the top 48 spots. This year the MPH brackets were 156.5-165.4 for the Sport Class, 166.8-174. for the Super Sport and 174.3-194 for the Unlimited Class. I qualified in the Super Sport with a 167mph.
Qualifying runs must start between 60-70mph to be deemed legit.
Here is a test and tune run. This 950hp Mustang left at least 4 cars ahead of me and I ran him down.
1st Round Bracket:
My first run was against a 1200hp GTR. We ran three times and both faulted once. The third race, he faulted and I advanced. We were very close as you can see in this vid.
Second round Bracket:
My second round run was against a monster Evo. First race I faulted and we re-ran and he faulted and broke. I advanced with a solo pass of 83mph.
Semi Final and Final Bracket:
Third run was against an Alpha car making 1400hp and ridiculously fast. First run I faulted (launched above 70), second race he faulted. Third race I faulted and was eliminated. He went on to win the bracket.
Here is one of the races with the 1400hp GTR.
Started the event trapping 166mph starting at 69mph and ended 171mph starting at 58mph.
Mullet was showing of the antilag!
