Boost leak tester gurus inside please...

I have the boost tester on the 2" intake of the turbo and the other turbo plugged. I put 15 PSI in it and the plugged end which has a gauge shows no pressure in the system at all and I hear the air gushing through the system at the bottom of the motor but feel no air. Used soap water and no bubbles.

It almost sounds like the air is rushing through the turbos on each side. What the heck does that mean. Is it the notorious number 16 check valve at the top of the motor?

New tune is commanding 1.3bar but I'm seeing 0.8 and spikes at 1.0 bar just as I shift.

Thanks!

Ps, before I started leak testing I thought it could have been the wastegate actuators (seeing this is happening right after the turbo swap) were not adjust properly but tightening them made no difference.

I had a similar result with my recent boost leak test, so I'm interested to hear people's answers.

My car held 25psi for about 5 seconds, but then it would slowly leak out somewhere which sounded like "Behind" the engine, more towards the right side.

Just like you, I sprayed soapy water everywhere with no result. Its a fairly big leaks. Maybe it could be through the valves in the engine? The only problem with this is the fact that I turned the engine over 3 times and the sound didn't move spots.

I had this problem, and it was the check valve. If it is the check valve, the air will be going into the small line attached to the top of the plastic turbo intake tube drivers side.

Checked the drivers side plastic line going into the turbo intake pipe and no air was coming out.

I put my hand in between the Turbo hot side and cold side right where the turbo oil tank in (basically put my hand on top of the oil tank) and I feel the air gushing down. Please don't tell me it is leaking from inbetween the cold and hot side of the turbo. These are newly rebuilt turbos. Im officially worried. Im going to do some searching on where the actual turbos can leak from.

I'm confused... In your picture the turbo isn't plugged. You should be testing from the mouths of the turbo into the engine... You have the "exit" of the turbo completely unplugged. Thats probably where the air is coming from...

Oh sorry, the pic is only to show where I am feeling the air from. Its a pic I took from when I was installing the turbos last week, not right now with the pressure tested and exhaust hooked up.

I did some reading and it is unlikely the air is coming from between the hot and cold side of turbo. I will remove the bumper in the morning to get a better view. Must be a hose or something leaking above the area in question.

I'm confused as well. I understood that you pull the hoses off the outlet (pressure) side of turbos. Plug one side and pressure the other side thus totally isolating turbos??

lol, again, that picture is just a picture of the turbo. The pressure tester is not hooked up in that pic.
