Wow, I think I'd be putting some additional support on that table and perhaps cross ties on the legs! Didn't use the Harbor Freight hydraulic table? Looks so easy to work on now!

Don't have Harbour Freight up here so had to make use of what was available. This is a case of lifting the car off of the engine...table is a little flimsy but seems to be holding up....

Is the engine still sitting on the table?
It's been 2 years.

Engine installed last March, drove the car until mid September. Getting ready to install suspension goodies and a different exhaust system. Unfortunately, lost the use of the shop I was working out of so this year I will be ground level.

Fixin' to drop

I will be droping my 996tt engine and transmission in the morning. Its an 03 and just broke the 30k mile marker. This is the best write-up so far. I don't see the need to search anywhere else as this thread seems to cover it all. Have the car lift, HF table, and lots of tools. I/we shall see .... Pinning, hoses, plastics, slave reservoir, coils, plugs, pressure wash, etc.

All in all, having now done this, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Porsche clearly spent time to make it *relatively* easy to drop the engine. Nice of them considering they designed it to need the engine out for most services!

Unhappy Help Recocgnizing

Trans Shifter cable ends

Retaining clip

Hi folks ! I wonder if anyone can recognize the shifter cable ends on my 996TT. These are not original, but I believe these are common. My problem is that I can't get them off of the shifter levers at the transmission even after removing the retaining clips. Pics are attached for review. Please advise what is the trick! Thanks to everybody !!!
