Even on correctly installed pss9's, 1 out of 10 sets will have clearance issues with the sway/drop link contacting the knuckle on the boss for the pinch bolt. You may remedy this by putting a 10mm flat washer up under the shaft of the upper heim joint, spacing it away from the knuckle.

As you can see by the comments there are a number of things that need to be looked at. NONE of the shocks need to make noise if they are properly installed. Even though these look like bolt on parts it's really important that you go to a shop that has has LOT'S of experience installing perfomance suspensions. This means they have the ability to make changes which might even mean machining some parts.
Make sure you are using:
Stock upper turn bearings, if for some reason you can't use the stock upper bearings use some type of a thrust bearing.
Make sure you are using the proper "stop plates" top and bottom
Using monoball camber plates can cause another set of issues.
Drop links ... check for tightness and check rod ends for slop. Also make sure there is no binding
Springs can also cause noise if they are not stacked correctly or the spring divider is rubbing or hitting the shock body. Proper combination of dual rates is also critical.
This is only a few of the many things that need to get checked. I know of only a hand full of installers in So Cal that I feel can intall suspension properly and even then there can be "come backs" at times. The only one I know that chimed in is GMG and I know first hand that they have installed A LOT of suspensions and they will do what it takes to make sure everything is right. If it clunks, my experience with them has been they will work on it untill it's right.
Make sure the person/shop installing them have done it before and don't accept clunking as ok or you could end up like the other thread that had a strut shaft BREAK!
