I think I first saw that website in 1998 and it reinforced my lack of self control or imaturity in my lack of ability to follow a break-in. I think I have probably red linned every new car I have purchased the day it was purchased (most with the sales person in the car) and I basically beat the hell out of my Porsches from day one. This includes a 993TT, 2 996NAs and 3 996TTs. I have also done this on numerous non Porsches and a Cayenne. I have never had any oil consumption issues or engine issues with any of my cars. You hear a lot of stories about smoking and oil consumption on the turbos and it seems like most of those guys followed a break in or so they say when complaining about oil and engine issues. Perhaps they are scared to admit they abused their cars when faced with issues. I dunno. Neverhteless, I have put perhaps 100,000 trouble free miles on my abused TTs alone and they only get fresh oil at their service intervals.

Porsche runs the engines through the revs before they put them in the car. They also road test them up to top speed.
