Stephen/Imagine Builds a Great Engine

Prior to having Stephen/Imagine rebuild my engine, I had been losing a certain amount of oil ever since I acquired the car. I kept my garage stocked with oil and periodically dumped in a quart or more.

I have put a few thousand miles on my car since the engine rebuild, and I have not lost a drop of oil. I checked it last night and I am full. Stephen/Imagine builds a tighter engine than the factory.

Thanks Stephen!

Craig

Ps: Anyone want to buy my extra supply of oil. It doesn’t look like I will need it anytime soon.

Craig,

I'm sure Stephen builds a great motor.

One hugh factor determining oil consumption is how the motor is initially broken in.

Great car man! Congrats, 800hp has to be a blast.

Is your car still up to day to day use?

I broke the motor in for longer when I first acquired it, as opposed to following the rebuild. On the other hand, I did not follow a particular break-in protocol the first time around, whereas I did the second time.

Craig, what ever happened with your custom exhaust being replicated for others to buy? Is that still on or is fabspeed still the best way to go for performance?

Is that the method you recommend/employ yourself with new motors? (Its just totally flying in the face of all info that typically surrounds engine break-in..)

I broke in my first 996tt motor on the dyno. The current motor build will be broken in on the dyno just like they describe on the above website.

Interesting link, should be very thought provoking...
In grass roots racing (no budget) the only way to break in your engines was to run it hard, right off the trailer. If you didnt your qualifying times sucked, then you start from the back. Then you will break it in trying to catch up...Anyways, during assembly , I used barely enough oil on my rings (conventional, not synth.) to aid in assembly AND quick run in, to seal the rings.
