Question Enough room for a lift with 9' ceiling

Is it possible to have a satisfactory installation of a lift with a 9' ceiling height and over-head doors?

It will depend on how high you want the lift and how close to the ceiling the garage door can go. I just went through all of this myself since I am getting a lift put in on Dec. 2nd. My ceiling is 11' 8" so I have enough room. I am putting my X5 under and my 996tt up top for the winter. I needed an extra high lift because of the height of the X5 and my garage door is going to lift up to about 7inches below the ceiling. I will have to back the 996tt on the lift since the front is lower than the back to make sure everything clears with plenty of room.

Measure the height of both cars, go to the lift website and get their dimensions. Add both together and then add space for the garage door opener. Measure floor to ceiling and subtract lift, cars and opener. Unless you are driving a Flexible Flyer, you're going to be pushing it.

Your best bet for that ceiling is a Bend Pak P-6

I had one.

Your garage looks great however I'd want a lift to facilitate storing 2 cars in one bay instead for maintenance work.

I was in a similar situation and I would say no way.

Sao you have need 8 to 10 inches of clearance 2 inches from hte roof of bottom car to lift , lift thickness 4 to 6 inches, and 2 inches from roof of top car to ceiling.

9 feet x 12 = 108" - 10"= 98"

a 997 would be about 52". maybe you could squeeze a gallardo on top at 46 inches.

The backyardbuddy recommends the following:

"Locking position height under ramp______+6" lock travel) + upper vehicle height ______=______ total ceiling clearance"

So for my 996TT at 50" the lowest locking height is 51 1/2", the upper vehicle could be no taller than 109" - 51 1/2" - 6" = 51.5"
So it seems you could store 2 50" tall cars but just barely.

I think a convertible would fit on top fine if you only place it on top with the roof down.

What about the top of the windshield? That is just about high as the roof

Ah, you left that piece of info out.

This is my current solution but you need a higher ceiling. More like 10' and a few inches. Also two very low cars.

Set ups start in the 2k range and go up from there.

It all depends on what you want.
