Sidney Pollack/SL65 Would Not Play . . . . CHP Would
I pulled into a gas station to get a drink, and I observed a SL65 at one of the pumps (see attached photo). As I was leaving the gas station with my drink, the SL65 pulled out right behind me and turned in the same direction. I slowed down and he pulled up next to me. We had a long stretch ahead without lights. I waited, hoping he would make a move, but he was not up for playing. I finally mashed the gas pedal and tore ahead.
The road was uphill where I mashed the gas pedal . . . about an 1/8 of a mile ahead, the road crested and proceeded downhill. My short burst of speed ended at the crest and, as I went over the crest, I slowed back down to a normal driving speed. As I was driving down the backside of the crest, my radar detector went off. Fortunately, I had already slowed down. About a 1/4 mile ahead, there was a red light. As I pulled up to the red light, a CHP officer pulled up next to me and looked my way. The SL65 pulled up next and looked over with a smile.
The CHP officer probably grabbed some dinner at Dennys, next to the gas station (a common CHP hang out), pulled out shortly after the SL65 and I left the gas station, heard (and pehaps saw) my burst of speed (my exhaust is not quiet), sped up to catch me as I disappeared over the crest, but by the time I was in his sight and he was able to radar me, I had already slowed down.
Interestingly, I am fairly sure that the driver of the SL65 was Sidney Pollack.

Doesn't the SL55 top out at 155?
and
AMG 0-150 mph 23.1
GT3 0-150 mph 23.9 according to C&D
Must have been one hell of a beating

Craig, that's too bad. I ran Tommy Lee once in his 355 F1, talk about slow. I had seen him a few times in Burbank and I finally caught up to him on the freeway on the way to work and beat him about 4-5 times, and that was in the old slow Silver POS. I can guarantee you that SL65 is not anywhere near fast enough to challenge you.

I also have a nice little wet kit to throw on the car as well, should bump the horsepower up north of 800 somewhere.
There's a dyno day tomorrow in Stanton, you should come by, there's gonna be a few cool cars there and I'm sure everyone would love to see yours as well.
All the information is here.

Oh yeah but to answer your question the second the clutch gets in there I should be good to go. Right now it slips in 5th and 6th gears on boost, so I'm giving it one more push tomorrow on the dyno then it should only be a matter of a week or two before it gets replaced.

The fastest cab I have been in was RIP Ben at 190, and another common friend saw 205MPH with him

Brad,
(sorry off topic)
dont know if youll remember me, but this is Harris from jacksonville. Too bad you moved back to Cali, but I cant blame you.
Anyways, I used to see you Tuesday nights. For the most part, i always drove really loud Porsche Cayenne Turbo's, and then I think right before you left I had gotten into the grey C4S. Anyways, welcome to the board man.

that time was actually in the middle of about 5 different times I found. Don't know why C&D would have faulty times
