Sounds good, Kevin. I'm always up for a run.

FYI...my supercharged M3 only weighed 3200 lbs and was making in the neighborhood of an *honest* 430-450 rwhp before I sold it (I made 416 with 2 psi less boost a few months earlier).

It also had a 8,000 rpm redline, 4:10 gears and shifted in 80 milliseconds with it's SMG manual tranny. And my current TT (surprisingly to me) is significantly faster than it was.

I'll be very surprised if your C2 will keep up...but it will be fun to find out regardless of the outcome.
I'm very familiar with E46 M3's myself....you can't begin to compare a "centrifugally" SC'ed 3.2L with a FAR more torquey Porsche 3.6L flat-6 with *roots F/I* (i.e. both FULL boost and 90% of its peak torque below 3K rpm). Those M3's are not only significantly heavier than a standard C2, but their inline 6's have the classic ****-poor "area under the curve". The centri-blowers don't fatten that. That's why your turbo was faster despite similiar power-to-weight ratio's...

...however, this is all BS and opinions are like a........well u know Only one way to find out!! And I agree with you 100%, it will be very fun to find out regardless of what happens.

The M3 has more time under the curve..which is why it beats many, many cars with much greater crank torque than it has. And like I said..my M3 weighed 3200 lbs. While it was a bit heavier...it wasn't "significantly" heavier. It also ran a 12.1 with 2 psi less boost. I think your C2 would have been a good race for it. But we'll never know for sure.

Below is an old vid of my buddy's bone stock M3 vs. my now sold modded Mustang Mach 1. The Mustang made 294 rwhp and 313 rwtq. Almost 100 ft lbs more torque than a stock M3 makes and about 10 more rwhp.

Both cars are manuals...and as you can tell from the vid..I'm shifting the Mach very quickly. Even getting a 4th gear chirp in the second race.

But the stock M3 was still right there...even with it's huge lack of torque. The time under the curve is what really helps it out.

Numbers and guessing are great. But the only thing that matters is real world testing:

Well, Well, Well.... That says it all.
What a bang for the buck Stage 2 kit .... a clear performance increase compared to the 30 hp Factory Porsche x50 Package.
At a very reasonable price as well.

P.S. Porsche Tuners :Keep bringing us more products . We are truly addicted to modifications.

Yes, I only have run 93 in the 3 years I've had the car. Before I get rid of it the 2 things I'm hoping to do is get it dyno'd and run some race gas. What's your guess on 100+ octane?

Math is good for weight, but you have to take into account the gear ratios as well. For example, a Viper running the stock 3.07 gears will quickly loes to a Viper of the same year running 3.73 gears.

What are the gear ratios + final drive for your C2?
I keep seeing you say that, but it's just not the case. Vipers just don't respond like most cars to gear changes. They do FEEL stronger, but 1/4 mile after 1/4 has proven that they really don't make a difference.

I agree with you on the 1/4 mile times. An already good low-end will not improve that much. Recently, however, I have watched a stock SRT10 race against my buddy (control car) a few times from a roll of 70 or 80mph. I then watched the results after the 3.73 gears were added and the results were noticably different. Nothing else (spray, forced inducation, exhaust) was added (to my knowledge). Of course, different variables can come into play, but we tried to replicate the same situations as the first one... The 1/4 miles might not change that much, but I believe that the higher gears not fully used in the 1/4 mile really shine from the new final drive gears. It's the higher gears that are the weak-link on the Vipers...

So I found out today that the guy with the X50 I raced in the video got a EVO chip for his car last week. So we'll be going at it again soon. Should be interesting.

I'll be sure to post another vid.
