Cost of 1,000 RWHP Build on a 996TT?
Been toying with the idea for a while. Car would run on e85 (or higher E content) plus meth if needed. Here's the catch...not interested in the 6speed trans. Can the factory auto trans be built to withstand the power level or would I need to go with an aftermarket such as a Hollinger? Goal is a good reliable half mile car that can dig launch and roll race and drive home afterwards.
Doing this on a GTR or Lambo is simple just drop off the car and a few months later there you go. But I have no interest in those cars.
Thanks all.

theres a few builders that can and have done the engine...bbi protomotive protosport etc
tip tranny in stock form can't hold...there is a couple shops that can build the tranny to over 1000hp spec but haven't been tested on the 996 platform
bill can modify a holinger sequential to hold the power which has been done....look up kongs build

first thing to do is contact renntech, southern hot rods and paramount performance. these all build big hp transmission builders for chrysler/mercedes cars. they will tell you if your goals can be met with the auto tiptronic.
motor build heres the breakdown (approx) rods 1700$, lifters 2100$, head studs 2000$, engine rebuild gasket bearing kit 1600$, labor approx 5000$. thats the basics for the motor. head work, oil pump, turbos, fuel system for the e85 can add another 10-15,000$ axles are 2200$ and suspension to bring it all together will run another 6000+$
you can also add another 5000$ for standalone engine management since e85 from the pump is all over the place. consistent tuning from a e85 analyzer os what you want when dropping 30,000$+ on a big build. add labor and tuning into that is approx 40 hrs labor
in have a friend who is having a shop build a 1200 hp turn key setup. dropped off the car and pick up a tuned monster. over 60k so far hope this helps and keep us up to date on what you do!

paramount has already built a couple tips for 1000+hp application on 997. Im sure 996 shouldn't be a problem. Shift speed is going to be issue...sequentional is faster.
No axles are available for tip

first get yourself in a well reputed shop very important, then be prepare to spend up to 50000 no joke (engine +gt2 gear trans+fuel +axle etc) personaly my basic built cost me 25000$ but that rod only and a refresh transmission! then maintaining that beast will be infinit thing to check periodically like boost pressure etc..
good luck

Thanks so much for the feedback so far!
No axles for the tip?? Whoa I may have to rethink the 6MT then. I would want to launch (not necessarily on the drag strip) but at 1,000 wheel the stock axle wouldn't last.

when i had an amg they weren't any lsd available for it. a friend contacted autotech who builds the wavetrac. the required 25 deposits to make a diff for our car. took a yr but worth every penny. I'm guessing there would be enough tip owners to justify seeking them out to see what they can build. they already build a diff for the manual and numerous diffs for the m/b so they aren't strangers to it

Another question gentlemen...assuming I do this in stages on a 6MT...how much power can be achieved on the stock motor and 6MT from a turbo upgrade, e85 fuel system, stock ecu and clutch upgrade?

about 700whp

if i were to do it all over again i don't think i would try to do stages. things change constantly and you set your goal at this point by the time you get there turbos are outdated the engine management has leaped ahead fueling setups that were state of the art last yr are now considered obsolete . better imo to pick a shop choose a level of hp and have it built to that level. as someone who hates to let others work on my cars i would never in a thousand yrs ever thought i would say this! at 600 hp i can do just about everything . above that my skills just are lacking in the electrical internal engine dept. better left to the guys who have done it. do it once do it right. i have bought and then sold more parts than i ever have trying to budget a inexpensive build only to find out it costs more than just doing it all at once in the end. i have had a blast but sent a small fortune and prolly 10k more than a all at once build. its a big chunk of coin but these just aren't cheap to build like a vette or mustang 1000 hp car

This has been asked many times. 650-700 rw torque is roughly the limit before the rods bend. With e85 and 30rs turbos this is mid to high 700rwhp by ramping boost up to redline.
This assumes you have all of the right bolt on mods.

i had stock internals, tial 3071 e85 fuel system carbonetics clutch and proefi since i don't trust the pump e85 to be consistent. think about an e85 tune and fill it up with e50 winter blend that says its e70? at 1 bar i got 650 rwhp with 65% idc. its the torque and cylinder pressure that bends the rods.

Understood thanks again. Part of my goals depends on the timing of development of the 997.2 I've been stuck at 650 wheel for a couple years due to the fuel system limit and while it's been waiting for an upgrade, my car has morphed more into a track car and maybe will stay that way. Some of the best shops have been trying to upgrade the fuel system with no luck for years. But who knows....if someone can successfully upgrade it...800 wheel on a PDK would be insane and I would just let the 996 go.
Wow mid-to high 700's? Pretty incredible actually on a stock motor. Mezger ftw.

The people at EVOMS advised me the Tip S could support up to 1000 Ft Lbs of Torque but I have a hard time believing that. It certainly can handle into the 600+ hp as apparently other than being 4 wheel drive the same Tip was used in the SL65 (except two wheel drive output).
