R&T "Ruf Rt 12 is the quickest car we've ever tested..."
I was there when it happened, very cool evening indeed.
Didn't have a chance to find the paper copy of R&T here yet (but I will) but just saw that the articel is online.

"So you can buy a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani or Porsche and go slower…or get the greatest supercar of them all — the Ruf Rt 12."
Cayenne

"But we were even more surprised when we chased him down the Autobahn..."
I too was very surprised sitting in the BMW M6 hitting the limiter at 270 km/h, when the RUF Cayenne (called Dakara Turbo) disappeared into the horizon. ANd I had no idea where we were going. Haha! There's now 570 hp kit for the Cayenne.

I wonder how'd this fair against the Bugatti Veyron. Sure, you can get quite a few RT12's for the price of one Veyron, but performance wise, I'd wonder who'd win.
This would be a nice battle to watch on Top Gear.

However to me the RT-12 is drop dead gorgeus, Alois Ruf is a genious!

Any car that can hit 60mph in three point something seconds is OK by me anyday. Under 3 seconds and that is just plain ridiculous fast.
An AWD RT-12 I dont think will improve its 0-60mph time by a considerable margin if any and the weight might even slow it some, albeit in the hands of a skilled driver things could happen. Duhno, guess I am just trying to say that any way you look at this these cars are just plain FAST, personally I dont care about the times posted by a car magazine, its all how it feels to you in the seat of your pants. Do I think my GT2 does 3.8 seconds probably not with me driving it but it is scary fast when I do and thats all that matters.
The Bugatti no doubt is one fast machine, but for a million bucks there better not be anything on the road that will beat it, at least not now.
There are Porsche's here owned by esteemed members that are putting close to what the Veyron is putting out and it seems impossible when you tell someone that a simple old turbo flat six can come close to putting out close to 1000 HP at the crank and you can still drive it everyday, almost every day.
