So is it safe to say that this is normal- my new tts has 1000 miles and for the first time tonite driving home from work i had 2 isolated incidents of loud rubbing/squeking noise for a second and then nothing since...it has been cold in NY .

Dr. Bill, if you don't track your car extensively, you won't have any problems with the PCCB Gen 2's on your turbo S. A little squeeking noise is normal once in a while. FAT911 has a point also on changing pads. I also heard that pads on the PCCB should be changed when they reached their 50% mark.

Dr Bill...bed-in the pads/rotors from time to time...a few moderate braking stops followed by a couple of real hard stops from 100+mph. That should leave a nice even film of pad deposit on the rotors and the squealing will go away. 15,000 miles here and just like new...cheers!

No problems here but light mileage on them.

Here's what they look like when they degrade and the carbon/ceramic surface comes off to reveal the pure carbon insides. These were the rear rotors, that lasted 24,000 miles (the front lasted 9,000 miles then the 2nd set a further 15,000 miles)

My car now has steel Alcon fully floating discs all-round (360mm front and 350mm rear) and brakes much better.

Did you track the car? Do have an idea why the rotors lasted so little time?

I've noticed that under hard braking my wheels will hop. It feels like the the tires are sliding and might just be the stock tires loosing traction. It might also be the anti-lock system not acting too smoothly. Either way, I've noticed that this car seems to stop much less smoothly and much less confidently than my last two cars. This doesn't seem right to me given the cost and exotic nature of the 911...

Car was tracked, but not excessively, perhaps 5 times a year.
