Upgrading a 2001 Turbo 8 speaker audio system
Hey everyone, my 2001 Turbo came with an OEM 8 speaker audio system. I'm not very knowledgeable with car audio and need some guidance of what needs to be replaced. First off, I have not come across another 996 turbo with the same OEM audio system as mine. I'm pretty sure it is not BOSE, but has four 6" door speakers, dash speakers, rear speakers, AMP, and a flip face single din radio.
It all looks to be OEM but I'm interested in upgrading it in the near future, primarily because the speakers crackle sometimes, no bluetooth, and ZERO bass.
I want a double din, already chose JVC KW-V41BT, but that's all I have so far. What size speakers for rear, dash, and doors do I need? I think the four door speakers are 6". Does the OEM Porsche amp stay? Do I need to remove it or will everything still work with it in place?
Any help/advice would be great.

Bass is all the way up, still nothing.
You sure about it not being stock? I recall the options code referencing something about the stereo in the car. I will need to look it up. Also the speaker grills have a Porsche emblem in them (one of coarse is missing and I can't find a replacement).

I have some GT2/3 non-speaker door panels for sale if you really want to simplify, lol
Definitely a stock deck, not an aftermarket 'flip-face' deck...
Have never seen those door-panels/grills before and don't remember an option for that, imagine they're custom...but maybe VIN/codes could reveal something...
2001 is non-MOST so upgrading is easier...

This is what the option code reveal:
680 Bose sound system
696 CD-radio Porsche CDR 31
So 8 speaker was OEM? I do want newer door panels (mine have some deep scratches) but no speakers might be too simplified for the heck of it, if they are mint condition, can you pm price.

your going to have replace the door panels or reglass them for single bass in the doors. i have polk audio and jl audio in the dash and behind the seats. i use a kicker self powered bass in the rear

All of your speakers and amplifier are sold by a company in Germany (I have the same system). They are after market speaker inclosures and all the speakers (even behind the stock speaker grills are updated). The system uses a factory Porsche amp, but it's not the one that came in our cars.
I believe the speaker enclosures are a big plus, but I don't think the amp is powerful enough. I've been wanting to a new amp and a small sub behind the back seats, but that's a project for another day.

The dash and rear speakers actually sound decent but the doors do nothing. I figure to start replacing those first with different 6" speakers. Those are just regular 6" speakers right? Not some dedicated sub-woofer speakers? Any 3-way or 2 way 6" should be ok?
I'l start with the radio first and should improve everything.
Also since stock AMP is 4 ohm, will running 2 ohm speakers in door be ok?
