Dual Mass Flywheel failing.

So Murphy's law, I just finished doing a bunch of mods that included a new Sachs 2.5 clutch... 300 miles later, I'm pretty sure my DMFW is starting to fail. I'm having chartering/vibration when in reverse at idle speeds and the same thing on down shifts if I don't blip the throttle to keep the revs up. Hind site, I probably should have put a new one in while I was at it but my car only had 40kmiles on it so I figured it would be OK. My wife's 996 40th Anniversary didn't show DMFW issues till around 90k miles.

Question:

Other than the annoyance factor when I back into my garage, are there more issues/risk to come or is this going to be the extent of the issues relating to a failing DMFW?

Are there any risks with just living with it as is? The vibration at low speeds doesn't bother me as of now.

Thanks

Not 100% certain what are experiencing can be blamed on a bad DMF.

Reverse gear is not as low as first. 2.875:1 vs. 3.818:1. Thus using just idle RPMs to back the car up can have the engine protesting.

Even with as far as I know a perfectly fine DMF I always have to rev match when downshifting if RPMs are elevated.

When you installed the Sachs clutch did you replace the clutch control shaft needle bearings? They can fail and cause clutch engagement issues.

Sub'd as I'm planning a clutch job, and was already expecting to have to replace the DMF. Reverse chatter for me is bad enough that I still stall regularly unless I feather very gingerly.

From my experience, with the Sachs stuff, if you install a new DMF right away, your clutch will be perfectly smooth, i.e. like new in both forward and reverse. Chatter often occurs when installing a new PP/disc/TO bearing with a used flywheel. IMO, always replace the flywheel when doing a new clutch.

Sorry to interrupt the discussion, here, but I saw magoochi's comment about his wife's 40th (I've got one, too). I shot you a PM if you don't mind checking it when you have time. Thanks much.
