? Proefi install...going on 6 months in the shop...
After blowing a compressor fan (pics here) I opted to have my engine dissassembled for shrapnel removal and upgraded to a 3.8 (bigger studs, sleeves, rods, pistons, turbos, mafless, etc.). My car has been at a shop for going on 6 months and the current excuse is that "wiring" the proefi system is problematic. This after being told twice that the car was ready for dyno runs back in feb and again in april...seems odd if the proefi hasn't been installed. I'm also being told that support from proefi isn't the greatest.
Only positive note is that they said the car is mechanically done (engine rebuild and install completed) but I have no proof this is true.
Almost all the posts I've read concerning proefi have not said anything regarding install issues which is leading me to believe I'm getting another series of BS stall answers. Now the shop has pretty much stopped returning my requests for updates and various attempts for communication via online services.
Am I just paranoid...how hard is a proefi install? Is installation that bad that integration support isn't available? Is it too much to ask for an update once every 2 weeks at this point of the project?
I miss my car. :-(

2 months....um no. Assuming that the proEFI isn't bricked or something. Even if wiring is tough (which should only be for the sensors and accessory type stuff)...it should still start on a base cal and then the tuner can figure out what's not right. Assuming the car is mechanically sound...the proEFI should fire the car first start. If the shop is having trouble with the wiring...I'd be a little worried.
I installed my proEFI in my garage and wired all the sensors.....that was using the horrific install instructions (if you can even call them instructions) from proEFI. I have heard that dealers get much better support than end-users and I have also seen some better install instructions since I installed mine.
Go by the shop and check the car out. Ask some questions, etc.

I did a standalone Pro-EFI install in my Supra, took about 10 hours. That included soldering all connections, shrink sleeves, troubleshooting, etc. (that was even with a bunk wiring harness)
Friends corvette Pro-EFI install, shop charged about 8 hours. That included a few things that needed to be changed.
Friends viper with Pro-EFI install I think was a nightmare. Even then the shop was done in about 2 weeks.
With all that said, customer service from Jason is some of the worst I have seen. Dealers get a little better treatment, but a lot of the time are sent to other shops to get assistance.
I think 03EvoIII has very good advice. Sometimes when lazy shops get something difficult, it is easier to spend time on other cars that come in to make the quick $$, then finish yours. Hopefully you didn't pay them up front!

The 128 is worse than the 112 for the 911 I believe. Thankful I got mine from Scott and most of it was done.
I'd go by the shop and see what's up like said. Also I believe pro efi hired a new customer service person in the last few months. They were helpful and quick to get back to me when I emailed them multiple time.

The 112 is harder than the 128 from the conversations I've had, I'll be running the 128 partly as a result of that and some weirdness the 112 was having early on working with some software - I believe that situation has improved though. Most of the wiring should consist of additional sensors though and should NOT require modification is to the stock harness. While the instructions aren't great they've gotten better and Dan is now full time support, there are Facebook support groups and an online forum as well. I've seen no public posts lately....
Sean at SRM did his early on with the old crappy instructions, Garth has done a number of cars, and a few here have done the job too. That said, at least one overseas customer had a hell of a time and complained mightily after his very Motorsport experienced shop had a hell of a time to include bad jumper harnsesses so bear that in mind too.
IMO I'd go and check out the car, I'd also reach out to proEFI and find out if the shop has been in contact with them. I've had shops do the excuse game and once stretched out to 50 weeks - a vendor on these forums btw - but it was years ago (still run by same guys...). I won't ever allow that to happen to me again nor will I pay some of the outrageous charges they pulled on me either. Get the status, figure out if the car is. I longer a priority, and if it's no longer something they will work on yank it out to someone who will do the work! No excuse for being blown off or being ignored.

Hey Sean! We had a healthy boy and just got home. I got Kyle for a second and he said will try to get some vid of it running shortly. So much going on. Sean is getting hitched and Kyle is trying to catch up. I think the hardest part is over. I will get back in the loop with you guys and do whatever I can. SRM has a ton going on and has the best of intentions. I do believe they are one of the few who have experience and can get the Pro-EFI sorted. I am hoping soon!

SRM should be able to knock it out!! OUt of the park! Are they going through some growing pains or something?
Maybe they can give you a good status/get the car fired up before they go fishing from 16-23rd.

I don't know who is doing this one but I can say that it is an epidemic. Shops promise you the world till you have paid them and then back burner you. They move on to the next guy and tell them the same ****. It really should be that as a customer you don't pay a dime till your **** is done.
I'm done ranting

No it does not. I will say this as long as I have been involved in race cars and such this happens on most large builds. This is industry wide and will never change. I don't believe it is intentional, the race car industry has ZERO concept of time. I think that a shop should devote the time required to complete a project once all parts are on hand. Just my 2cents.
