Need to replace my key_anyone try non-dealer vendor?

I need to replace one of my misplaced keys for my 996 turbo (still have the backup and valet key). The sealers want $500 for a replcmt key. Anyone try Keyless Remote Warehouse. They advertise a uncut transmitter remote key for $149.99 and recommend having your local locksmith cut and program the key (approx $50). Anyone have any experience with Keyless Remote Warehouse? Or any alternative methods for replacing our keys, before going to the dealer. thank you, kenny

You can get the blanks from suncoast, et.al. The new key will need to be re-programmed with IPAS codes. This is a list of specific codes to reprogram functions on your car. With proof of ownership you should be able get them from the dealer (sometimes the dealers don't cooperate). These are not available from a locksmith...LOL.

Sounds like the remote warehouse place may do the reprogramming of the keys? I've only got ONE key and I would LOVE to find a replacement! $500 is insanity for this...

I dont think this will work to add just a new key. When i bought my TT the seller couldnt find the second key, so he had to pay me a complete new locking system from porsche with two brand new keys (insurance reasons) Costs around 1100 Euros.
To just add a second key, to replace a lost one, works as far as i know just, if u got the key codes.

Called Sonnen Porsche and their on-line price is $250 for the transmitter and key blade. Then my local Porsche dealer said they would reprogram (as long as transmitter and key blade were Porsche purchased). Reprogramming is another $100. So $350 sounds better than $500, but still a rip.
