Front suspension refresh - questions
So my lower ball joint boots are cracked and torn and I have a noise coming from their general area when driving slow or turning the wheel when stationary. I plan on refreshing the suspension and tie rods with this kit at FCP euro: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/por...er-trw-997kit1 . Install looks pretty straight forward except the inner tierods look to be pretty hard to access. Anyone change the inner tie rods before? How about the kit at FCP euro - anyone purchase it.

Is TRW the OE supplier for suspension components for Porsche? I know Lemforder was the supplier for BMW, so their parts were highly trusted, but lower end components would have you regretting doing it twice....

The friend I bought my '02 Audi S8 from used made in China front susp. bits and I had to replace all the 'replaced components' after just a few years. I went with Lemforder and I'm sure those parts will last longer than the rest of the car...
just curious as to how many miles are on your car?

My car has 54k mi. When I got it though the pss9 were set to full stiff. Not sure how long they were that way but I suspect that might have something to do with the shorter than I would expect life. There have been a few track days that I know about though so maybe those and some I don't could account for the wear. The parts in the kit are some OEM supplier and some aftermarket just trying to get a feel if the control arm pieces are worth messing with and how hard changing the inner tie rods is on a 996tt. I work in automotive quality and the truth is any supplier can make a bad part from time to time even brands that have a shining reputation. I try to stay with OEM supplied parts but without the expensive car brand stamp on them when I can. Just would like to see if there is any feedback on the parts in that kit that have actually been used and not just a "general" it's not made in Germany so it must be junk comment. We scrap German parts all the time so they are not perfect 100% of the time.

there's been issue for a year or two now getting the TRW LCA's...suspect its a VAG/Porsche market control thing...
getting Genuine Porsche is probably the only way to 'guarantee' quality for the LCA's at this point
