Todd, You have to design that they way the others are so that the license plate stays were its mounted and the hitch is in front of it a couple of inches.
Why?

You could mount the plate right to the cross bar if you want.

Todd,
You are great. Just what I have been looking for! Questions -
Is that a cross bar between the two bumperettes?
Is the license plate relocated when you mount the hitch?
How muchand how do I order?
Please PM or e-mail me. Thanx.

Because its awkward looking to have to relocate the plate, there are hitches made that all they need to be is attached to the bumperette brackets and thats it, they arent as intrusive looking, just a suggestion.

Where can I get hitches that attached to the bumperette brackets? This is what I was going to custom fabricate before I saw Todd's mount.

Very easy and is done all the time.

For the Hitch, and all due respects to any others available out there, the one I like best (and own--I also have an Evo hitch) is the Willwood Hitch. Its twin receiver set up allows you to remove the ball mount section by pulling two pins, so that 99.9% of the time when not trailering, all you see are the two receivers which are very inconspicuous.

The Willwood was designed by a retired engineer that used to design hitches for Reese, and he sells them out of his garage. He originally designed it for a friend that wanted to carry his mountain bike on the back of his Boxster, and he has sold many to track enthusiasts who want to tow light weight track trailers, myself included.

The Willwood does not interfere with your license plate or the tow hook hole behind it, unlike the Evo, and others I've seen.

The contact info for a Willwood hitch is:

Will
PH# 209 772 3399
6739 Pollock CT
Valley Springs, CA 95252

You can get a general idea of what the hitch looks like, at this website which shows it with a bike rack attachment. When used as a hitch, there's a ballmount that slides into the twin receiver setup.

Yosief's Boxster Bike Rack/Willwood Hitch

For trailers, someone said Southsport went out of business. I have a Southsport and it is very light, but strong, and trailers like a dream (at triple digit speeds ).

Others have built track trailers using the mini utility trailer from Harbor Freight. If Southsport is out of business, I'd go the DIY route with the Harbor Freight trailer and probably pay someone to fabricate the tire rack, similar to the Southsport.
