Towing a trailer with a 996TT ? !!!
OK. I know that many of you will think that I am nuts but - I am planning next Spring's track events and I want to be able to bring a set of race wheels/tires with me without towing my car.
I want to get a small tire trailer but don't know how to install a very small hitch to my car. Any ideas? Has anyone else done this? I did see someone towing a tire trailer at one of the Pocono events but didn't pay that much attention at the time. Help.

I've seen it done, and with cars that are far less than a turbo. Last time I was at Pocono, a fellow arrived in an s2000 with a trailer of gas and track tires.
I don't have any specifics for you as it would relate to a turbo.

There are hitches made for this specifically, a full setup is approx $1k, speak to Suncoast Porsche or South Sport Trailer for additional info. I have a friend that pulls one with his 01 C2 and know others that do as well and claim to have no problems.

What popout are you talking about? The only thing I see is on the bottom of the black Bumperettes.

Here is a picture that may help you guys figure out how to attach the hitch to the back of the car. The bumperettes attach with an allen bolt to the two extensions you see on the extruded bumper rail.

I htought the purpose for that hole was the same as the one in the front bumper, namely, for attaching a 'tow hook eye thing' in case the car needs to be towed and it can't start...

I have been building these for a few years now for that exact purpose. I have them in stock for a 996TT.
