GEICO Insurance & 996TT
Hey guys, can someone clarify some conflicting info I am getting from several calls to GEICO regarding insuring a 2002 996TT.
Was calling to see cost for replacing my current '02 M3 with '02 996TT. It has been a lot of calls. No one seems to be able to give me a quote for the car. My call this am resulting in the rep saying GEICO does not insure cars over $85K. Then she could not find a TT in the database, although she did appear to have a GT2.
Finally, I spoke to a rep who says she will do some research, but isn't sure GEICO will insure a TT. BTW, long time GEICO policy holder, over 45 male. Any TT GEICO policy holders?

It will probably depend if the TT is your primary or secondary vehicle. If you have another car insured with them and the TT can be viewed as a pleasure rated vehicle, then they should do it. Insuring a TT as a primary(daily driver) stand alone vehicle with most major insurance companies can be expensive and many big carriers won't insure them at all. It also depends on your garaging location as to whether an insurance company would have the appetite to assume your risk (ie: insuring the car) if it is a stand alone single car policy....Just my two cents from my previous life of10 years in the biz. When getting quotes, if you are insuring two cars, make sure they rate the car for pleasure use only...If you say it's your daily driver, you won't get the benefit of the much cheaper pleasure rating platform...

GEICO insure my CT registered 02 TT, it is in the pleasure use category as described above, less than 5K miles per annum of estimated use, I pay $2200.00 for the car. I have 2 other daily driver type cars on the same policy.
ps: checked my policy, although GEICO have the VIN correct they describe the car on the statement as 2002 Porsche 911CRTBGT2:
maybe they are classifying GT2 and TT as the same risk category?

Wow, that's alot for pleasure rated!!! CT rates are pretty high from what I remember, especially near one of the bigger cities...I'm with Liberty Mutual...I have my Cayenne with them @ $1250 and my GT3 @ $700 pleasure rated, no other driver's in the house...That's with 250/500k liability limts and comp/coll...

Rockitman, I am with you, I think it is high but every company I called had the same quote within a $100 of each other, I insure a Audi A4 at about $1200 per year and a Range Rover 04 at about $1700 per year. I am 37 and I have a very good driving record. The Audi and RR are insured for higher miles and commuting. I wish I could find better rates.
