Happy new 996 turbo owner in South Florida

Thank you. I never saw the gt3 console delete installed before, but it is a really clean look and my knee doesn't rest on the console while driving making it much more comfortable.

Thank you. a previous owner had a short shift kit installed and the last owner installed a firm transmission mount. Of all the 996tts I drove, these 2 items must make a pretty big difference because the feel of the shifter is much more solid, no vibration or sloppiness albeit still a little "notchy." Overall, the best feeling manual I drove by far.

Yup, that's the car. Got in contact with the previous owner through that ad. Great guy, extremely candid and upfront. He didn't own the car for very long, apparently he used to have an 996tt x50 and missed it. He bought this regular 996tt from a gentleman on this site and proceeded to try and recreate the one he let get away. In order to do this he sourced an original pair of sport seats, had the backs painted to match the body, painted the lower console and had the gauges done to match. It's amazing, all the color matches perfectly. He also added red seatbelts and the gt3 console delete with red stitching. On the exterior he completed the gt2 body kit along with h&r lowering springs and wheels. He owns a 430 scuderia and discovered that he has grown into more of a Ferrari guy than Porsche guy. He didn't really want to sell it since he just put a whole bunch of $$ into it but he has another baby on the way and didn't love it as much as he thought he would since he has caught the Italian bug and just bought a Maserati for his family car.

Looks like a great car, congrats!
Not sure what the mileage on the car is, but I wouldn't worry too much about the possibility of 2nd gear popout at this point. I personally believe these cars have reached an age where all the cars that had the issue have already been repaired.

especially back when, when porsche would actually say: "who,.. wha? how'd THAT happen?! we have no idea"
agree with whoever said that, by now, you are out of the woods on that issue. presumably! that detent can't "hurt".

Congrats on the purchase, Im a big fan of the GT2 front and rear as well as the sport seats. Give that leather a little love to try and remove some of the creases. My GF has a house in Boynton Beach that she rents out, we live in Miami Beach.

My car had that console delete as well. I decided that I really wanted a place to put my phone etc. so I searched for and found a matching lower console on eBay for $50.
Congrats on the car, looks beautiful.

I heard you got a great deal and some original parts to boot. Missing it already...

Very nice meeting you last weekend as well. I got so caught up in talking cars that I forgot to take you up on your offer to feel the gt2 clutch conversion you did on your car. Look forward to chatting with you again soon.

@'02996ttx50 Thank you for the information. A past car I had (wrx) also had a second gear issue with the synchros. After owning it and subsequent manual cars, I am usually excessively light on the throttle until 3rd gear. Force of habit I suppose.
