Happy new 996 turbo owner in South Florida
It is one of those great moments in life when seemingly intangible objects can jump from a poster on the wall into a real live garage. My name is Joel and I am an owner of a new to me 2001 996 Turbo. The car I chose is in amazing condition for its age and still smells new. Most modifications I would have liked to do are already done and the 3 previous owners I spoke to, as well as one of the servicing dealerships have had nothing but great things to say about the car. One previous owner even said that he loved the car and regretted ever selling. Hope to be a fairly regular poster of information and will definitely be soaking up as much knowledge as possible.
A couple of things I am considering adding is the second gear detent to prevent any 2nd gear popout (not a present problem) and coilovers along with adjustable toe links since the car is presently lowered on hr springs with stock struts and wears the inside of rear tires really quickly. Perhaps the bbi slave conversion or gt2 as well since the clutch is fairly stiff in the morning and accumulator was changed recently. I also noticed that the commonly referenced tail light tab breakage may have me spring for some "light savers" as well.
Thank you to all who read this for helping to create the wealth of knowledge on this site. It has helped me throughout my buying adventure and has been a testament validating the love for the 996tt.

Looks like a great car, congrats!
Not sure what the mileage on the car is, but I wouldn't worry too much about the possibility of 2nd gear popout at this point. I personally believe these cars have reached an age where all the cars that had the issue have already been repaired.
