I may be crazy but the RT12 will kick a CGT's *** and the CGT is over $400K. The RT12 is a bonafide supercar with VIN and warranty. I'd take an RT12 anyday.

That means for your comparison you would have to buy a 997S, then buy a complete 996TT engine and ancillaries (turbos, intercoolers etc) and gearbox and then tune it. The $50,000 would not even buy a new stock 996TT engine. Then you have to work out how to integrate a 996TT engine, wiring and electronics into a 997........

There's a lot more to the RT12 that it looks at first glance. Unfortunately some press articles have incorrectly stated that the RT12 has a 3.8S based engine or assumed it. As stated, the 530bhp and 560bhp options on the RT12 are 3.6 litres, only the 650 is 3.8. The 3.8S engine is only strong enough for about 450-500bhp.

Oh yes and some of their 996TT engines have GT3 heads on them....

Guy
Guy,

To make my idea work it would probably be best to wait for the 997 tt to come out and then send it to a tuner.

I tend to agree with Budman. I acknowledge the long term resale value the cars seem to have, but they always, when put to the pencil, seem high. Great sound though.
Personally, I would give up a 1/2 second and spend the extra 60k to get the cgt. I love that car.

What may be overprice to some may be underprice to others..I'd say it's all a matter of preference. I'd personally get one in a heartbeat if my coins allowed.

Yes, you are crazy because the RT12 will definately NOT kick a CGT's ***. It weighs about 300 to 400 lbs more with only 45 extra hp. I believe it would be a fairly even race and the CGT would walk away on a roadcourse.

I would not assume this unless you own both and have driven them on a road course yourself. Maybe the RT12 is easier to drive at the limits than the CGT? Torque is a wonderful thing, especially on a tight course where getting off the corners fast is a must. Big difference in TQ figures Buddy. Hp is just a number for comparision........

I am not assuming anything it is just my opinion and yes torque does make a difference but so does weight!

All tests I have seen says the CGT is a 10 second car 0-200 km/h.

The RT12 650 is sub 10 second to 200 km/h.

How much does RUF charge?? OVER $300,000!!!

No thanks.
You have a good point, however you forgot the labor charge, all these cars are handbuilt and german labor isn't cheap. Yes 300k+ might be a bit much, but at the same time there was a 20 person waiting list for the car before the first one was even finished. The clientele is definately out there and considering the fact that this car is faster than most supercars, some would consider this car a steal.
