And on the subject of money, I do not live in Kansas, Oklahoma, Jersey, or Texas. I live in Newport Beach, CA where the homes start at $4 million. Spending $200,000 on a car is no big thing and $4800 on a transport is pocket change.
Thanks for the great first impression.

So, for the person who has more money than brains, how much to put the car on an air cargo transport and get it the next morning? Sort of like FedEx Priority overnight??

In regards to the great first impression, the great first impression was initiated by you making yourself out to be a complete schmuck.

All I can say as that I live in OC, but I was born in Louisiana. That's right, I'm cajun!
Modesty is a virtue, Robert. Insults are rarely welcome anywhere. Most of the people on this board do not live in the OC, and those of us who do don't necessarily live in Newport Beach or Newport Coast. That doesn's make any of us...well whatever impression you are trying to make.

Well, I am going to defend RobertP on the only part of his " story" that has any basis in fact. I have an 01 TT and I am fortunate enough to own it because I work very hard. I am a self employed truck driver. I know it does not sound glamorous because it isn't! I transport high end vehicles for the largest enclosed car hauler in the states. I am quite familiar with shipping rates because I get a percentage of them when I transport a car. I have been doing this for about 15 years so I know a little about the industry. I have posted some pics of my truck and trailer and some neat vehicles to satisfy those who will question my facts. This is how the shipping rates work. Intercity, Passport, Horseless, Pilot, Select One and Reliable Carriers all offer carrier convenience rates. That means if you are flexible with your pick-up dates(2-3 weeks) and your del. dates( 2-3 weeks) the carrier can service your vehicle at their convenience and the rates will reflect this. If you want firm pickup dates( your specific date) and 3-4 day coast to coast service it will cost every bit of 4800$ As a matter of fact, I do not think we would do that move that cheaply. You all would be surprised at the amount of money people will spend for near instant gratification. Some of the services we supply for corporate moves are: team service, 2 drivers for coast to coast delivery in about 60-70 hours! Temperature controlled trailers- about 25 of our 300 trailers are insulated with Carrier or Thermo King temp control units and can keep concept vehicles and clay models at room temp all year round. Service north of the Artic Circle in the winter for cold weather testing- that cost would boggle your mind! Hot weather testing in Death Valley. So RobertP isn't a total loon. Now for full disclosure: I did not pay cash for my Kenworth. I did not pay cash for my Kentucky Car trailer. I did not pay cash for my 01 TT. I did pay cash for my 2000 Focus- PS RobertP: Relax, but you picked the wrong group of people to BS. Take care, Kevin

How many transportors that you know of that don't have their name and transporting numbers (Cal Trans or whatever numbers trucks are required to have visible on the truck when they go through the scales or us the highways) on their truck and/or trailer?

Any commercial vehicle in California has to have company name, location, and US DOT(if interstate) or a CalTrans number for intrastate along with truck and trailer number, trailer length and numerous other documents. I have not been to California in at least 10 years because of the crazy regulations and fines. Heck, a logbook violation can cost upwards of 1000$. California is a great place to visit... just not in a semi. Fly by night transporters won't last in CA, they mean business! Kevin

Homes don't start at 4 million in Newport, don't know what crack he is smoking. Also, anyone with that much money can't be an idiot and you should be able to represent yourself without mentioning where you live or what you drive. A lot of people just list the county or state and feel comfortable enough at that without having to get down to exactly where they are to prove a point to people they don't even know.
