Our day at the dragstrip

Our local car club had a get together at the dragstrip last Sunday. We had the following cars show up:

Car... Owner
Porsche 996 Twin Turbo GT700, 750hp / 750 lb/ft... Joe
Mercedes SL600 RENNTech, 675hp / 910 lb/ft... Arnold
Mercedes SL65 RENNTech, 725hp / 970 lb/ft... Lou
Toyota Supra Turbo, 900hp / 900 lb/ft... Guilly
Dodge Viper Twin Turbo, 1200+hp / 1200+ lb/ft... Vince
Chevy Corvette Twin Turbo, 700hp / 700 lb/ft... Glen
Subaru WRX/STI Dynocomp , 630hp / 600lb/ft... Richard
Mercedes SL55 AMG, 500hp / 600lb/ft... Dave
BMW 540i Dinan, 400hp / 400lb/ft... John
Mercedes E55 AMG, 480hp / 500lb/ft... John

We were also joined by Ryan Woon of Wide Open Throttle MotorSports who broke the records of ".world's fastest and quickest, street, 6spd Toyota Supra " with a mind boggling 8.62 ET and a 171mph trapspeed!

We were also joined by the crew from Evolution Motorsports . They brought their supercharged Porsche 997, as well as, their monster GT800 car. We had a chance to watch the GT800 break the record and become "the world's fastest 996 Turbo" with a blistering 10.37@139mph.

We plan on getting together again very soon. I'll keep you all posted. If you are in the Phoenix area and are interested in participating, let me know.

I have included some pictures of the day, as well as, a video of some of the runs.

CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE VIDEO!!!! The video is best when viewed at 320 size.

Thanks, it's "street, 6spd Supra"

Awesome!

You should ask Robertp to join your club, if he takes the top off his cab it's gotta be good for 40 hp and be able to give your GT700 a run for it's money.

Nice runs. That SL65 runs was funny, in that he looked like he had 0 traction at the beginning. Must be impossible to harness a 1000 ft.-lbs. of tq. no matter how wide the tire. For a bone stock E55 that was impressive.

All my favorite cars are in the same place. Woon's, Evom's and 1200hp Viper. It's like a preshootout event.
