Battery/Alternator light logic

Battery/Alternator light came on and pulled out my voltmeter. I checked the engine bay alternator voltage output and was getting ~13.98-14.0v when running. battery was ~13.81.

Not sure how to troubleshoot further without knowing the logic behind the light? What the conditions in which the light turns on? High resistance in wiring? Low voltage in key components? Voltage differences between alternator and battery?

I would think that ~.2 voltage difference between battery and alternator is fine since I am reading that anything greater than .5 is an issue.

I have no symptoms also, car starts up fine, lights are fine etc...

I am also on a standalone so I assume the battery/alternator light is coming from the dash.

Any insights are nice.
