F1 Status install (the best sound system in the world)
#16
Here are the pictures of the finished product, the quality is perfect.I am leaving the car of tuesday all day for the final adjustments to the Road EQ and the digital Crossovers etc. It takes all day to adjust this system. The sound quality is amaizing. The Amp rack and Center channel pod where both custom made and took several days to complete. The complete install took ten days, the whole interior of the car came out and all the wires where placed along side factory wire harness. (excellent work).

I really love the trunk set up, looks nice and compact.
I opted on Double Din, to slot in so that it wouldn't cover the air vents, but still looks good! bit more visible to the cops though if they were to pull alongside. What is the law in US, are you allowed to drive with visuals on?
What is built into the light console?

The piece built into the light console is the center channel speaker , this system is Dolby Digital Surround EX/Dolby Digital Pro Logic II /DTS-ES with NEO:6 decoding and Digital time Correction to adjust for space limitations inside the cabin and has a Road EQ capable of canceling road and engine noise in real time.

Everything is good stuff. Did the installer recommend the speakers and ADS. Did you consider the SPX Z18T. I say this because your speaker box looks like the SPX Rs and it is so common for installers to sell the Rs by saying they are comparable to Ts when they cannot get Ts in stock which are very limited production.
I use the scan speak raw drivers and a McIntosh electronic crossover which is same drivers, just a step up, from the $ 4,500 per set Alpine T series and for less money. Scan speak makes the Z18T drivers for Alpine and you can bump up to even better drivers for a little less money by buying the Scan speak direct or through places like Madisound.
I use the Revalator tweeter 2904 ($950 a pair and a step up from the Z18 tweeter), Revalator 12M 4.5 inch ($ 450 pair) and the Revelator slit paper cone 18S ($ 450 pair and a step up from the Z18 mid bass). So for about $ 1,900 you can actually get the next step up and have the best car audio speakers in the world. Candidly, the speakers will make the absolute biggest difference in your system's SQ if you are running a clean signal which the F1 does produce. There is very little tunning needed with the scan speak stuff as its curves, both on and off axis, are nearly flat and the imaging rivals $ 10k home speakers. The electronic crossover may set you back $ 750, but much better than a passive.
You seem like you are intent on having the best and willing to spend the money. Don't let some sales person installer tell you that the SPX R series is comparable to the F1 T series. When I hear tune, I cringe because I have been there too many times and I have thousands of dollars in fancy electronics that are now just sitting around my house thankfully. If I misread the box and you have the Ts, I apologize for wasting your time. Good luck with the system.

hey that system looks sick. Everything looks profeesional and i am sure it sounds awesome. I was just wondering about your subs. You said JL 10w6's were being installed but wondering where you would fit them. I have a Cabrio and put JL 8" subs in it.
Thanks
Thanks

system looks pretty good. I would have thought about other mids and tweets besides the alpines, maybe like Morel. I worked in the industry for over 8 years and my best friend owns a very high end shop in AZ adn does some incredible work. His install manager won IASCA Expert class for sound quality 2 years in a row, so I get my advice from him. Alot of speakers can be made to sound great, but the only thing that matters in the end is how YOU like it.
Question on the install.... the amps are mounted to boards... how are those boards mounted? did he just screw into the car??
Any pictures of the sub enclosure?
the pod for the center channel looks good, but a big question is the position of it for exact imaging... Did he not want to do anything to the dash?

I used Morel 5 inch MW144 and Scan speak revelator mid bass with 2904 tweets in the three way system in my 90. The MW 144 is an amazing 5 inch speaker and with an unbelievable frequency response in the voice range. The speakers are so transparent that there are not any timbre issues mixing the set. Another twetter that is worth trying is the McInotsh fabric tweeter. I use the fabrics in my 6.0 as the tweet sounds better in a smaller enclosed two seat cockpit.

Doug I am def. impressed! you really know your equipment! what is your background?
Funny someone mentioned the name Steve Brown.. he is an old friend of mine. He is just an incredible installer!
I can't wait to show everyone my system it is completed in the next 2 months.. Eclipse, Morel, Diamond Audio setup... removable subs for track days and Alot of show! My front trunk will be more usuable for daily stuff though. XICO's trunk would get damaged too quick if I had it (I have to carry stuff to the track and what not)..
